There’s a scene towards the end of Junk where a mysterious bookshop owner offers to show Brandon his collection of vintage erotic photography. I had in mind the explicit pictures of our two young crossdressing friends, but those sorts of pictures are very hard to come by from that era–featuring male models at any rate. These pictures here are the sort that are more readily available. Arty enough to be legally acceptable at the time, but I bet most of the men buying these nude “studies” were interested in something other than pure aesthetics!

#1: I love the look on this man’s face, and he’s rather handsome. Gorgeous long, lean body showed off to perfection by that incredibly uncomfortable looking pose!

#2: And speaking of uncomfortable poses, wtf? Just look at the strength in that body, though. Gorgeous.

#3: This is one of the few pics I’ve ever posted where I know the date it was taken, the name of the model AND of the photographer! 1887, Bill Duckett and the famous American artist, Thomas Eakins :) Do you think Bill’s got a book hidden behind his arm, or is he just staring at the carpet?

Which is your favourite pic, and why?

Next week: I’m planning a post featuring men in spectacles, but I’m having immense problems finding any. It might end up being women in specs instead, as I have a few of those already. If you find any vintage male optically-challenged hotties, please do send them my way!

Oh yes, we all need something to brighten up Mondays. Glad to be of help! ;)

Macky ~ Sinfully...Addicted To All Male Romance Hmmm, who to choose this week? I think its piccy number two because despite being denied a good old gander at the dangly bits he's got a smoking bod! Lovely muscle definition holding that pose and that bum is pretty divine! But again Jo you've made it hard for a girl to choose... They're all pretty hot and each one has its charms. I love vintage smut Sunday!! Thank you oh queen of all things smutty. ;D

Plainbrownwrapper mmmmmmmm, I'm a huge fan of muscled backs. Love them muscles in action. :-)

Yeah, I really suffer for these posts. You can tell, can't you :P

Macky ~ Sinfully...Addicted To All Male Romance * sigh* I feel for you... I really do! ;P

♣ Irish Smurfétté ♣ I'm torn this week, they are all so simply honest. Howev, the second one is very intriguing: what was their inspiration, subject and photog? art for art's sake? something between lovers? or just something we all loved to do as kids, a head stand. endless stories from one pic!

Yep, I love it when the pics get you wondering like that. I find the Victorian ones are often the most intriguing in that respect, probably because they couldn't always be obvious about the erotic purpose.

Ann I thought of your Vintage Smut Sundays when I read about the bookshop in Junk! I vote for #2, I'm a sucker for the buns :)

Absolutely! I'm a junky for the vintage photos and the only thing I was missing was the smut. I got totally hooked reading Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, the story is good, but the creepy vintage pix make it. Then I got obsessed with urban decay photography, this guy is amazing http://artofurbex.smugmug.com/Urbex/n... and now, thanks to you I've got some good smut - YAY!

Just checked out his site Ann and he's really good. Very atmospheric. I like that ' Thin Spiral ' photograph...would have scared the crap out out of me, walking up that too!

Josephine Myles Ooh, I love photos of urban decay! Those are fabulous :D

I used to go around taking photographs of abandoned furniture when I was an art student. Then a friend and I broke into an abandoned nightclub and took pictures in there--it was full of old vehicles like a red London bus and carousel horses. Incredibly creepy and atmospheric!

Ann Isn't he great? The pix all give me the melancholy creeps and want to tell me a story. I know exactly what you mean Macky, I get vertigo just looking at it.

An abandoned nightclub? That would be awesome to explore! Lots of stories in those walls I'm sure ;).

I'll have to use it as a setting one day. Loved those photos of the hotel bedrooms, for some reason. And the bathroom. Stunning photography!

Ooooooh! That would be an amazing story, great inspiration there.

I stalk him on FB, he gives updates on how they get the pix, etc. It's really interesting and I know nothing about photography, just love the potential stories :)
