Lucky 7 is a blog challenge. I was challenged to take part by author Elpi Pamiadaki who is a writer I met on Twitter.

The challenge is to blog 7 lines from unpublished works of fiction. Here are the instructions:

1. Go to page 7 or 77 in your current manuscript (fiction or non-fiction)
2. Go to line 7
3. Post on your blog the next 7 lines, or sentences, as they are – no cheating
4. Tag 7 other authors to do the same

I currently have an unpublished manuscript I'm working on -- my upcoming novel, Haunted.

Here are the 7 sentences from page 77:

In fact he hadn't stopped talking about the ring for much of the afternoon.
Emily walked towards the table and picked up the ring.
'Hey, don't touch what you can't afford,' said Russell, laughing.
She put on the sweetest smile she could muster. 'But Russ, didn't you say I could have the jewellery? You said you got it for me.'
He narrowed his eyes, then shrugged.

Now, I'd like to pass the challenge to the following authors:

Darcia Helle
J. Michael Radcliffe
Quentin R. Bufogle
Susan Buchanan
Julie Elizabeth Powell
Mark Rice
Felicity Lennie

Maria LOL :) I'm half way through the re-read and hope to be able to send it to Susan for editing next week! Once she's done her magic, I'll let you have a read before everyone else ;)
I'm looking forward to reading your blog post... am eager to read Secrets.

Darcia Helle Awesome! I can't wait!

Isn't it nice to turn the editing nightmare over to someone else? Now we have so much more time to write!

message 6: by Maria (new)

Maria Yes, I'm looking forward to just handing it over to Susan... :) It will free up my time. True, I will have more time to write, but also more time to hopefully get through some of the books in my never ending to-read list!!

Julie Powell Thanks, Maria.

Like it, Felicity...shiver!

Jennifer Lane Great excerpt, Maria! At first I thought this was a wedding ring. Then that scene reminded me of one from A Fish Called Wanda for some reason!

message 17: by Maria (new)

Maria You're right, there is something similar in A Fish Called Wanda, I've just had a flashback... that was to do with a key or something wasn't it?
Thanks for the comment Jen, glad you like it!

Jennifer Lane I was thinking of the time John Cleese staged a robbery in his own home to get the necklace back and his wife and daughter came in on him.

message 19: by Maria (new)

Maria I have forgotten that bit. I must watch that film again, it used to be one of my favourites :)

message 20: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Lane That movie makes me laugh so hard I start to cry!

message 21: by Maria (new)

Maria :) John Cleese is a very funny man. The whole cast of that film are so talented.
