I wish there was a genre for allegory. I hope God of Wine is many things to a variety of readers: a theatrical book written in two Acts for theatre fans; a love story of a woman pursuing a man; a suspense story of schemes and deception; and the struggle of a Broadway star to atone for his past.

But the real story of God of Wine is simple. It is a story of the dynamic and dark romance of alcoholism. I like the idea of bringing Greek god Dionysus into the picture to illustrate this.

I trust there's an audience out there, since 1 in 5 Americans have substance abuse issues. This number multiplies when you add all the people out there who know and love (and struggle to understand) an alcoholic. I hope Taylor's struggle will resonate with readers in perhaps a deeper way than another clinical study.
