A weekend novel-destroying update:

It works, but I have to scan every page to a jpeg, transfer them via pen-drive to a MacBook, use a pdf conversion programme to convert one by one, then copy and paste the resulting text into a document… which will then need completely reformatting and placing into Word.

It’s going to take a while…

Jay Batson Pen Drive??? Say it ain't so! Google OS X / WIndows file sharing across your (WiFi | Ethernet) network; pretty easy.

And spend a little time playing with (OS X) "Automator" to write some AppleScript to automate the PDF > Word step.

With as many pages as you have, every saving 30 seconds in the process will save you 6 hours. :-)
