The thing about small town post offices is, everybody knows everybody. When I walked in this morning with Jemidar's book and bookmark, Jackie greeted me happily and wanted to know all about the book and the contest. She helped me with the packaging—the "small flat rate priority box" was just a smidge too small, which was a big disappointment, because if I'd sent it priority I would have been able to track it. As it is—well, Rinette is on her own, and we'll have to wait for Jemidar to let us know she arrived safely.

Anyway, we got the book and the gorgeous purple bookmark into the envelope and got the customs form filled out and just as Jackie turned to put the package in the outgoing bin, I whipped out my camera (I did ask first) and snapped this picture. So there it is. I'm really quite excited about this—it's the first book I've sent to Australia. Australian readers, remember—the UK edition of The Flower Reader from Preface will arrive on your shelves this summer. I think I'll save a bookmark as a prize for the first person to send me a picture of the book in the wild in Australia!

Tara Chevrestt I'd like a bookmark. Is there a contest for them? (I collect them.) I already bought the book...am waiting on pins and needles for it so haven't been entering for book giveaways, but if there's a bookmark giveaway, I'm all in. I collect them from all over the place. LOL

Elizabeth Loupas Hi, Tara,

Yes, there will be book-and-bookmark giveaways as part of my upcoming HFVBT book tour, and also via Dear Reader. You've given me a good idea, though--I should save a couple for people who already have the book, and have a special contest for bookmarks only. There are only 36 of the bookmarks (very limited edition, heh) so I need to figure out how to work it...

Tara Chevrestt Oooh. Let me know. Yes, please, do a separate giveaway. I don't enter book giveaways for books I've purchased. That's snarky. LOL. I'll be watching your feed.

Jemidar I had pre-ordered this (the US version) but couldn't resist the temptation of a signed copy or the book mark. I also didn't expect to win!

But because I ordered it through a friend who owns a bookshop and some of her customers have similar tastes to me, she's going to recommend it to some others and sell my copy to them. She's already converted a couple of her customers to your books on my recommendation so she doesn't think she'll have any trouble finding it a new home.

I hope my back yard proves wild enough for a photo of the Australian version ;-).

I would love a chance at a bookmark. I'm almost done (hope to finish tonight), but I think I can safely call it a winner.

Tish I've also pre-ordered this. I'm looking forward to reading it. I expect my flowers will be in full bloom when it arrives. I collect bookmarks, too. Great, relatively inexpensive, don't take much room, and a good reminder of places.

Rio (Lynne) I pre-ordered this and was happy to get an email from Barnes and Noble that it will arrive by Friday! Yippee! Early!!!

Elizabeth Loupas Thanks so much to everyone who's pre-ordered. That means more than I can say.

I've just posted a new post with a bookmark giveaway, so go for it. :)

Rio (Lynne) Love the UK cover!

message 10: by Jemidar (new)

Jemidar I'm considering buying the UK/Oz edition at some stage just for the cover. Love it!

Elizabeth Loupas The model on the UK cover is much more what I visualize Rinette to look like--youthful and clear-eyed. The model on the US cover, lovely as she is, is more a smoldering sexpot than Rinette could ever be. The hair and headdress are gorgeous, though. :)
