My WND Technocracy column this week is about the uproar over President Obama presuming to order American citizens (or American corporations) to provide certain services free of charge. (I'm still not sure when contraception and abortion became human rights.)
If you are anything but your own property, you belong to someone else, which makes you that someone's slave.
The topic led me to reiterate some core ideas drawn from Objectivism, libertarian thought, and Aristotle's philosophy. Specifically: Your nature as a sovereign individual precludes any attempt by others to live your life for you. To make the attempt is to enslave you.
I want to stress that the ideas contained in this article are not original to me. I have been profoundly influenced by the philosophers I mentioned, as well as several authors who have written commentary on those philosophers' works. No plagiarism is intended, but the fact is, I didn't reinvent these wheels. I simply spoke from clear memory on what I learned from these intellectual greats.
