'Edith's War' has been recognized by the 19th Writer's Digest Self-Published Book Awards as an Excellent Entry. The historic novel, set for the most part during World War II in England, was given top marks (5 out of 5) in all categories of judging: Plot; Grammar; Character Development; and Production Quality and Cover Design. Among other positive comments, the judges said, "You have an interesting and touching story to tell, exploring a chapter of history that many readers will be unfamiliar with. You do a great job of bringing the story alive for the reader with your attention to historical details and description." Ruth Seeley Andrew that's just wonderful! 5/5 in ALL categories. You must be especially gratified by the cover design category, given the way the cover changed so radically from your first concept of it. I was so glad you crowdsourced opinions on the cover and went for one that focused on the central character rather than on the larger central event (WWII and the bombing of Liverpool).

Andrew Smith Thanks Ruth. The cover certainly is a hit. You'd be surprised how many people ask if it's Edith! I suppose it's a compliment to how vivid I've made her that so many readers wonder if she's a real person.
