What is Valentine's Day? Well, according to history, February 14th was in honor of the martyred Saint Valentinus. You can read the History Channels version here: The Legend of Saint Valentine's Day.But for most of us, it represents love. It could be the love you have for your spouse or significant other, the love for a child or grandchild, the love for a parent. For me? It reminds me how lucky I am to be loved.
I have been happily married going on 29 years to a wonderful man who gave me two wonderful boys. They are both on their own now, creating Valentine's Days for their own loved ones. It's always nice to see the family expanding...but it also reminds me I am not getting any younger. So this Valentine's Day, don't forget your elders...those that loved you first. Call your parents if they are still alive--wish them a Happy Valentine's Day as well. I bet they would like to hear from you. Too often we forget them in our own busy lives. I know how special it is to me when my children think of me and pick up that phone or stop by.
And with that...I wish you all a very Happy Valentine's Day...and, of course, don't forget the chocolate!
