*More atemporality. Call for "films." Do you suppose that any of the attendees of this worthy gathering will be bringing "films"? With, like, sixteen-millimeter projectors?

Conference dates:
June 5-8, 2012

Call for experimental films to be screened at The Re/theorisation of Heritage Studies conference, University of Gothenburg, 5-8 June 2012.

Films may be about any subject, but should deal creatively and ethnographically with the subject of memory and remembrance work. Screenings will be accompanied by short presentations by directors.

Discussions should address the following issues:

What creative formal and/or narrative strategies can be used to address the poetics and the politics of memory in different social and cultural contexts? (((How about the strategy of "begging." "Please, please try to remember. Once upon a time there was no Google, and people had to 'remember.'")))

How can visual media be used in innovative or unconventional ways to approach experiences of recollection and the passage of time?

Films under but not exceeding 45 minutes in length are requested. Media must be sent on a DVD, (((okay, right, that's not "film,"so you had better "re-theorize" that first thing))) and labeled with the title of the work, the filmmaker's name, and the date of production.

Please include a brief summary of the film (no more than 250 words) and a presentation abstract of up to 300 words, indicating the alternative strategies it uses and what it reveals about the relationship between the moving image and issues of memory, heritage, or the passage of time.

Please send DVDs to:
