For the next week or so, we'll be inundated with those Lists for 2011. I decided to come up with a few of my own:

Most wonderful thing I purchased in 2011:

My tub. My lovely tub that cradles me and lets me do leg exercises and gives me whirlpool massages and helps me relax and totally zone out. Oh, and I can read it in, too.

Most irritating house issue of 2011:

Plumbing. Three leaks, two meters, and a new water heater, repair of a soft water unit (and a partridge in a pear tree). Add in the refrigerator that WOULD NOT STOP LEAKING, and it was a mess.

Most memorable dog issue of 2011:

Mr. Mud. Seriously, why did it take me so long to come up with the brilliant idea of installing all that gravel and membrane on top of that mud?

Or the time Flash got out of the backyard and I was so shocked I just sat there, saying goodbye to him mentally. I knew he'd run away or get hit by a car or something horrible. Less than a minute later, I heard barking at the front door. I ran to open it and there he was, standing there smiling at me. Almost like he was saying, "Are you kidding? I know I've got it cushy here."

My favorite software of 2011:

Scrivener, plus Nozbe and Evernote. Oh, and definitely Livescribe. (Okay that's four.) Oops, must add Dragon Naturally Speaking and Xara, too.

Favorite discovery of 2011:

How much I like Facebook. Who knew? I've only got a Wall/Fan page, but it's fun to interact with people "on the fly".

Little things I really liked in 2011:

The awesome special black sponge that I've had for two years. I pop it in the dishwasher every day to disinfect it. It's supposed to last six months, but mine lasted two years!

My Plantronics headset for Dragon Naturally Speaking.

My really small heater that takes the chill off my office on winter mornings.

My sparkly bracelet I wear every day – a reminder to live like Auntie Mame. "Life is a banquet and most poor fools are starving to death."

How about you? Care to share something on your list?

Anne As I've already told you, I love your books. I have loved Scotland for years, and always wondered why it appealed to me so much. I am adoped. It might be interesting to you that several months ago, at age 70, I had DNA testing done and I do have Scottish ancestry. So far i have found a direct line to william Colquhoun, a covenanter who was exiled to the US as an indentured servant in the middle 1600's. I also have Campbell ancestor which does not particularly inmterest me, as I relate very much to the MacDonalds of Glencoe, and also Clan Mac Gregor, the "children of the mist" who were hurt by the Campbells.

Karen Ranney How wonderful, Anne. (And how cool.) I wonder if I'd have the courage to have DNA testing done. It might reveal something I wouldn't want to know.

Thank you for your lovely compliment, by the way.
