I spent Saturday in Washington, D.C. doing some on-location research for my new mystery series (stay tuned for more about that). Happened to be leaving the National Gallery of Art on the Mall at closing time as the sun was setting. Spectacular sunset: red, white, and blue with the Washington Monument as a striking silhouette. Everyone who was walking down the museum steps began taking pictures with cameras and phones.

Karla Marie Beautiful pic, but new series? Does this mean no more Lucie Montgomery?

Ellen Crosby Karla,
I'm working on something new; actually, it's the book I thought I would write after "The Merlot Murders" since I figured that would be a standalone -- then it became the wine country series and my notes and notebooks went on a shelf for 8 years.

You're correct that there are no wine country books in the immediate future -- but that doesn't mean never again. I felt it was time for me to do something different as a writer, shake things up a little. The new series features a photojournalist who lives in DC; I hope you'll like her as much as you like Lucie!

Happy Thanksgiving!
Ellen
