Since I'm still figuring out the details of this self publishing gig, I am running somewhat behind in doing all the things I can/should be doing online. That's why I am only just now setting up my author tent here on Goodreads. But I wanted to pop in and say "hey."

Possibly the most difficult thing for me about self publishing is the required "shameless self promotion." For me, writing bios and blurbs are much harder than writing the fiction. Still, I think that self publishing is the way that the book business needs to be heading.

One of the really cool choices that Goodreads offers writers is the ability to import an existing blog to this space. That's a terribly appealing option, because it requires the least amount of work for me at a point when self publishing is eating up almost all of my available time.

My problem is that I have too many blogs. It would make the most sense for me to import my personal blog, but that quite often strays into non-writing topics like Canadian politics. And sometimes posts planned for another of my blogs, perhaps on technology issues or self publishing will be appropriate to appear in this space.

What I think I'll do instead is to offer a mix of articles written specifically for Goodreads as well as cherry picking useful posts from my other blogs to share here.

Thanks for listening. Have a great day, and remember, make every read a good read :)
