Philippa's charity, Gardens for the Gambia, already very successful in digging wells to bring water to some of The Gambia's poorest communities, has expanded into bee-keeping and pottery workshops.

In a trial project, the charity has build five hives at Kerr Ngonyan Woman's Vegetable Garden.  For just £500, the hives are supporting the entire community by offering an opportunity to diversify when crops fail and surplus can be used to create a revenue.
