[close] The Egyptian author AKMAL SHEBL was born in Aachen, Germany. Both parents Egyptian. Before having a chance to get into literature, he worked as an architect, musician, and freelance writer.

Shebl founded, wrote, and performed with many Egyptian and German bands, finally settling with his own band, KARTOON KILLERZ, that rocked the gates of Cairo for seven years in Cairo, releasing the first Egyptian Album in English language.

The album, TOMORROW'S, was an epic about sixteen years old Adam who wakes up in the fictional town of Tomorrow's witnessing an invasion. His quest for knowing what happened leads him to analyzing the world around him in epic tunes and lyrics.

Akmal's fascination with the spiritual and human experience dates back to his hippie days as a musician and rocker, and an unorthodox student of architecture, traveling the world learning about secret societies, mysteries, religions, and cultural different prospective.
In 2007 Shebl was finally able to publish his first book, The Human Effect, which gained interesting reviews for a first book.

This year Akmal, published by Mascara, is releasing: Prisoner in Paradise: a supernatural mystery on Egypt. The first in a series of seven books about a city that has gone immortal in Egypt. Akmal believes in what is called The Theory of Everything; everything in the world is connected and w writer is only a deliverer of events, writing words that are not entirely his. The book is followed by The Prisoners in Paradise Lounge. A 14 track CD with Eastern lounge music composed by Akmal.
