About this author

Susannah Carleton discovered Regency romances at the ripe old age of 33 and promptly fell in love, since life among the ton in Regency England is such a diverting change from that of an engineer. She lives in northeast Indiana with her husband and teenage son, and when she isn't reading or writing or reviewing books, she loves to knit.

Some of the plot seems quite improbable, and the characters not as well drawn as in Ms. Matthews' other books. The fact that the story is told in first-person may account, in part, for that.

“Enthusiasm is one of the most powerful engines of success. When you do a thing, do it with all your might. Put your whole soul into it. Stamp it with your own personality. Be active, be energetic, be enthusiastic and faithful, and you will accomplish your object. Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.”
