So I finally replaced my ten year-old laptop Spunkie with a new Macbook Pro. Yesterday! And I'm writing on it this very minute. A big thanks to everyone who helped Secret Speakers win the Reader's Choice award as a cell phone novel at Textnovel. I used the prize money to by Spunkie II.

Thanks to Tyler Osmond who sold it to me. Writing to you all from my very own computer sure beats having to laptop hop. (Thanks to very generous family members for your patience.)

This next picture is the reflection of my old laptop that still does word processing, and in fact, I'm tidying up the manuscript which you can see on the screen.

All the little blue things on the left are the sticky notes from my editor, filling the edges of the manuscript. There are lots and lots of them. (And I finally finished going through them, gleeful sigh.)

Now that I've got a computer that does more than allow me to type word documents, I'm going to finish designing the back of the book cover and spine, put together the book trailer for my soon-to-be-released, very amazing new website, complete with a very cool application that allows you to make your own luminamen right before your eyes, and . . . well . . . all that!

Oh, and thanks to the really nice bald guy at Simply Mac.

So I thought that it would be fun to post pic's from my verrrah own personal library of amateur photos to give us something to look at besides book covers. Feel free to use them for wallpaper. This one is from my Christmas Cactus. It's got kind of a cool story behind it, and I'll share that beneath the picture.

Right after 9/11, I got a job as secretary at the homeless office at Welfare Square in Salt Lake City. An average of 70 people came through the office every day willing to do volunteer work in exchange for food, housing and clothing.

Just the month before, with the help of my mother, I had moved cross country to remove myself from a potentially life-threatening situation. Unfortunately, my former husband refused to allow me to bring our three children with me. And so, we've had a long-distance relationship for nearly eight years since then. I'm so, so proud of each one of them.

One day, a cook from the cafeteria at Welfare Square came into my office bearing a small pot with three small shoots on it. She knew I loved flowers and plants. She told me it was a Christmas Cactus that would bear beautiful double blooms twice a year.

Well, I decided each small shoot symbolized each of my children. The plant has grown and bloomed so that it's too big to even wrap my arms around, (not that it stops me from trying) and what's even more wonderful, is it blooms three times a year. For each of my children. Life is full of small and simple gifts. Life is full of beauty.

12 hour days, lately: sitting in front of the computer until I can't see straight let alone form a complete thought. The good news is, I've got all the graphic design done for the soon-to-be released all new website.

One of the things that really stinks with fibromyalgia is that every once in awhile you get lost in pretty hilarious brain fog, which sometimes isn't so hilarious. (As in, I sent the manuscript to my editor's old address in late February because I was too out of it to realize that email with the address was from last August.) Hello dolly!

I just found out today that she hadn't received it, so I had to reschedule the recording dates with the narrator for Secret Speakers, and I'll very likely have to push back the release date.

Stinky bananies, as my kids and I used to say when life throws you trouble. I think I'm going to go turn on some music and dance, even if it hurts! Then, I'll go to bed laughing, knowing that the only thing that matters is being at peace with myself, others and God.
