I’ve written several short stories (fictional of course) about Montezuma’s t... Read more of this blog post »

Peter and the Starcatchers by Dave Barry
I listened to the audio on this one. The reader, Jim Dale, is fabulous. I give him six stars. (Yes, I know there is no such thing.)For me, the story line was good but not fall over fantastic--about 3 and 1/2 stars. Combine the audio with the book and...more

Major Pettigrew's Last Stand by Helen Simonson
Fabulous writing. I'd give the prose six stars if I could. A little slow on the plot. That would have been a four. I figure that averages to a five.

Through the Door by Jodi McIsaac
Kudos to the author. Great plot, fun fantasy, and good characters. I also appreciated that for an adult book, it was quite clean. I definitely recommend it as a quick way to escape into a different world for a day.

Untraceable by S.R. Johannes
I thought Untraceable started off with a bang and quickly pulled me into the story. The premise was unique and the writing good. I would have given it four stars if things hadn't gotten so jumbled about 3/4 of the way through. In my opinion, the vill...more

Okay for Now by Gary D. Schmidt
Overall, this is a great book. The author is very talented.

For me, the biggest problem with this book is that I listened to it instead of reading it. There are a lot of visual elements in it and with an audio book you just don't get that. Also, the a...more
