Whoa, wait, there's going to be a GRAPHIC NOVEL of TWILIGHT?That's... umm... a little frightening, actually.
I mean, I'm definitely a Twilight fan, but a graphic novel might be a BIT too much...
She probably doesn't want to have to mention the plagerism law suit, or the naked photo scandal. Those aren't really cheery things for the fans.
i wish that authors would comment more often its taking steph a long time to get back on her blog. *sigh*
I was talking about this with my parents the other day... please don't take me as far fetched, I have a great love for the "fantasy" world, this is only my opinion... I think that these writings hold a deeper intuition than that of the obvious love story, it is a moral dilemma, a fork-in-the-road, a path less chosen, the ultimate no-no which makes this story so gripping. Stephenie says so herself that she can't tell a short story, and I think it is true for the fact that how could you justify the means to and end of a young girls morality, in such a glorified way that would captivate rather than horrify readers, you would have to explain everything. And she does, she explains it all and every detail carries the weight of the good and the bad, even the in-between, it all is there in those four books and it is complete in every way. Her dream about a vampire and a young girl lying in a meadow waking her up one summer night, and I am sure not knowing where it would all go but having this mind full of story and the inclination to get it out of her head, must have had some meaning to it, some deeply harbored, life changing thought stemming deep from the bowels of her mind forcing her to consciously work out the problem from her dream. All I can say is who would have ever thought it would become one of the great stories of our time, I am sure these books will one day be the readings of young and old many years from now, just as Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn are still today.
Well, it's actually stephen+ie, but yeah, if we were actually interested in that only, why wouldn't we just pick up any other novels?
my sister commonly says the twilight books only flourished because of the idea of vampires in the human world, not because of the writing, i disagree i loved the way stephan+ie made edward detest jacob so in eclipse, it just made me happy to know that edwward was so protective of bella, its super sweet

No, I wish I was.

Yeah, they look better, don't they?
The Hachette booth (at Comic Con) showed off character sketches from the planned Twilight graphic novel from the house's Yen Press division.
Have you been on Deviant Art? There are many Twilight fans there, making beautiful fan art. But I think they were going for a specific feel for the Graphic Novel.
Eclipse was my favorite, it had everything you loved and knew about the characters. Jealousy, Love, bloodlust, and of course it was better written than the others. They say that Stephenie gets better at writing with each book.
I think Breaking Dawn was my favorite, it had more going on than the others, and it had the finality of the story which always carries the best parts.
My favorite is the first book, New Moon and Eclipse are tied for second, and then comes Breaking Dawn. But I have a special place in my heart for all of them!

I wouldn't put too much stock in it though, this site is run by super librarians, and goodreads librarians that apply for the status. You wouldn't believe how many fake books are uploaded here. Librarians keep the site clean, but some get confused, and upload things that aren't correct. You don't have to have a degree to get the Librarian tag. Trust me, I know.
Check Stephenie Meyer's website, for all the info on her upcoming books, she has simple tabs deticated to each of her series, and some of her non-series. Seth Meyer puts it all there, including the music-video she got to direct.
Claudine wrote: "Jill, I don't know if I wouldn't be getting people's hopes up, unless you are sure... I am going to look around though, see what I can find."I'm definitely not sure about these things, hence the "you never know if this is true or not" I put in my post. But I like to pass info around and maybe someone will be able to find another source of info and either prove that it's pure gossip or that it is, in fact, true. (you said you would look around and that's great!)
So, if anyone else finds any other information please let us know!!!
Summer House is a short film with Robert Pattinson... I don't think SM is writing a book with the same name...
Jill, I don't know if I wouldn't be getting people's hopes up, unless you are sure... I am going to look around though, see what I can find.
Jill, do you have any idea when "Summer House" is coming out? I am a fan of ghost stories and I am for sure going to read it whenit comes out.
Claudine: Like I said, the information is according to goodreads.com (do a search for Stephenie Meyer and 2 books will pop up below the other ones that are called "The Seeker (The Host #2)" and "The Soul (The Host #3)". Goodreads has been pretty reliable with their information, but you never know. There was also an article in Entertainment Weekly around July 17, an interview with SM. It talked about the sequels to The Host and a new ghost story that she's started called "Summer House".
Who knows if any of this is the real thing but I get giddy hearing anything about her writing again!!! Maybe we'll see Midnight Sun be published someday too!! :)

Well, that's quite a testament... and total hook for me. Thank you.

The Host was good. It doesn't draw you in like Twilight, I don't know many things that would - I never read books that hooked me like that before. I enjoyed The Host, however, because it was something completely different than what I was used to reading, and it left me conflicted in many ways until I was very satisfied at the end. To say anymore would give it away. :-)
I can get it from the library...or maybe I'll order it from sci fi book club. Either way, I'll be reading it. (Along with the other 200 books on my shelves, LOL)
Claudine,
We sound a lot alike, I'm not one for chick flicks or heavy duty romance, I'm definitely a sci-fi/fantasy enthusiast.
I like the concept of The Host, and I'm pleased to find out it isn't all about the romance, which is what I thought it would be. Thank you.
Hi Jackie,
I want to say this, I am not a "chick flick" type, I like a little romance sure, I just felt that the Twilight Saga left me drowning in it. Twilight has become (seriously) a huge phenomenon, it is so crazy, I have to agree that the movie characters Bella & Edward were not nearly what I imagined either...how can you find the perfect person though, I always feel movies cannot justify the book, it would be too hard to anyways. It is all in our Imagination.
I feel The Host is my favorite, I love the adventure and sci-fi of it, it has it's "pitter patter" (romance moments) too, although not as much as Twilight, which is why I enjoyed it so much.
Jill: I would like to know how you know that SM is coming out with a sequesl to The Host, it is my understanding that she has not planned on any further projects, for the time being. According to her website.
Thanks, Jill. I think I'll wait for the sequels to comes out, I don't like to wait for sequels to finish a continuing story, Id rather just read them back to back.
I liked the Host but not nearly as much as Twilight. I do think it was a well thought out story and very interesting concept, though. She also manages to squeeze in a little (tiny) bit of romance. I would give it a chance (it starts out very slow, give it 150 pgs and then decide if you like it) but I would go into it NOT expecting another Twilight. BTW, according to goodreads there are two sequels to The Host in the works, first one comes out in 2010.
Edward was perfection, I'd imagine it'd be hard to capture that.
Claudine: I'm considering reading The Host. How would you rate it? And would you recommend it? Stephenie writes very well, so I'm not concerned about that aspect of it. What I want to know is, if it draws you in like Twilight did. Any comments would be helpful. Thank you!
Judging by the cover, I really think they drew Bella beautiful and Jacob good-looking, but I'm not thrilled with their version of Edward. It doesn't seem like anyone's version of him can do him justice -- I have such a perfect Edward in my head, I wish I could draw!!!
I love how they stayed true to the description, the Edward has the structured jawline, and the Bella has the full lips that almost overpower her jawline as Stephenie said.
