Gus Gordon is a children's book author and illustrator based in Sydney, Australia. He has written and illustrated over 70 books for children.

Gus's illustrations are known for their loose, energetic line work, mixed media (most notably collage) and nonsensical humour. His writing is always anthropomorphic - where animals take the place of humans in the narrative. His most recent written works include the picture books 'Wendy' and 'Herman and Rosie' published by Penguin Books Australia.

Gus's influences are varied but mostly lean toward those illustrators who are humorous and/or have a free flowing energy to their work. They include the illustrators Jean-Jacques Sempe, William Steig, Serge Bloch, Sara Fanelli, Oliver Jeffers, Eric Carle, Leigh

Herman and Rosie by Gus Gordon
"What a charming little tale this is. I'm not sure it plays as well with the under-3 set as it does with this parent, but its a nicely told little love story that doesn't go anywhere a toddler cannot follow. I found it sweet and kind of touching."
Herman and Rosie by Gus Gordon
"Brimming with heart and soul Herman and Rosie is a picture book to lose yourself in. Not bad for a book where the main characters don't meet till the closing sequence.

Herman and Rosie are New Yorkers. They have much in common, but it's only the r..." Read more of this review »

Wendy by Gus Gordon
"5 year-old girl & 4 year-old boy both enjoyed this one. We have two chooks in our backyard and they are not nearly as exciting as Wendy - although our girl Betty gives it a red hot go. My son has requested a sequel about "when Wendy goes to th..." Read more of this review »
