Rock co-authored with her sister-in-law, Karen. A former Golden Heart recipient, Joanne has won numerous awards for her stories. As a life long reader and fan of books, I still find it exciting that I have personal relationships with authors whose work I really admire, authors whose work has influenced me, uplifted me, or taught me in some way. The writing community is really interesting and giving.

The other thing I love about being a writer is hearing from readers and feeling like I've influenced, uplifted or entertained them in some way! I became a writer in the hope I could deliver that experience of being "carried away" by a story-- the magical experience other authors give me. So I am always thrilled to hear from readers and to feel like I'm succeeding in this way.(less)

Tell yourself you are a writer and that writing is your job. Sound like a lot of feel-good baloney? It’s not! Achieving your dream of publication requires huge reserves of mental and emotional fortitude along with a Teflon ego to ensure the inevitable rejections slide right off you. You’ll also need plenty of discipline to sit down at your computer (or notebook) every day, even when no one is standing over you reminding you to get back to work. Having a "writer's mindset" is really important. After that, read a lot, study the craft and write every day. Surround yourself with other writers and learn from each other. Attend the conferences and educate yourself. It takes time for the pieces of your writing to start coming together to form a real sense of "voice" but it will happen with practice and perseverance. “The Wedding Audition” by Catherine Mann and Joanne Rock is a perfect merger of the authors’ talents. The book reads with the voice not of either author but a combination of the pair. (Thanks Netgallery, Mann and Rock for an ARC.)

I enjoyed Annamae’s journey to from uptown Atlanta to small town Alabama, where she finds not only her roots and gumption but also “the one” for her....

Adored this book start to finish. I can't remember laughing out loud so often in a book. Really liked the organizational style of the letters/emails and varying points-of-view. So much of the humor came from the juxtaposition of the perspectives.

Clare, that means so much to me. Thank you for reading, reviewing and taking the time to let me know! I grew up close to Saratoga, NY and worked at the track during the summers, so I got to meet some lovely horses at that time :-). It's come in handy for a few of my books, especially SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT. My next few books are set in a fictional town called Heartache, Tennessee for Harlequin Superromance and I'm thinking sooner or later there will be some more animals there ;-). Thank you so much, Clare!

Joanne Rock Hi Mel! So nice to hear from you! I appreciate you friending me at GR. I've been enjoying the book recommendations here, especially now that I don't have a bookstore in my town. My GR friends have pointed me in the direction of some great books!! Hope all is well with you, my friend!

Joanne Rock Hi there!! Thank you, thank you for being my friend all along :-). You've been good to me for as long as I've been writing and I appreciate that! I really like Goodreads too... especially for the book recommendations once you plug in your reviews of things you like. I've found some fun new stuff that way, especially since I no longer have a bookstore in my town (can you believe it??). Goodreads has taken the place of the local book retailer for me with the good tips for my TBR pile!

Cathiecaffey Joannes, the cover for FULL SURRENDER is so beautifully romantic!

I've been connected with your friendship since Goodreads opened and have loved your books. I so must add ALL the books I read of yours and others. And each time I read a book. I love it here at Goodreads and discovered so much new and too the group discussions with other readers. I love to see what others are reading! So thanks for your awesome books you write and all you recommend!
