<about><![CDATA[Cassie Lewis is an Australian poet born in 1974. Since 2000, she has resided in the United States.

Cassie's poems have been published in print and online journals, primarily from Australia, the United States and England. These include Jacket, Famous Reporter, the P.N. Review, Meanjin, Shampoo. They have also been widely anthologized.

Cassie has had three chapbooks published so far, and has self-published some of her work on her blogs The Jetty and the The Little Workshop, as well as in Poetry Espresso chapbooks.

From 2001-2004 she ran the Poetry Espresso discussion list and its affiliated small press, both of which she founded.

Espresso's publications included the collaborative Postcard Poem project with Timothy Yu, Stephanie Young, Del Ray Cross, Jennifer Dannenberg, Nick Piombino and Catherine Meng.

A series of 13 monthly anthologies were also printed with a different editor each month from the Espresso discussion groups. Editors included Jill Jones, Pam Brown, Kristin Hannaford and others. Many of the covers featured original artwork by Ruark Lewis, Angela Gardner, Cassie Lewis and others.

Espresso's website and press folded in 2004.

However, for those interested, the chapbooks are all available in SUNY Buffalo's poetry archives. The books themselves are no longer in print.

Angela Gardner's ezine, Foam:e, was initially an offshoot of the list but rapidly came into its own and has continued independently.

Cassie's poetry skills were honed in the rigorous poetry scene of Melbourne, Australia. Early influences included Gig Ryan, Brendan Ryan, Ken Bolton, Pam Brown, Emma Lew, John Anderson, Anthony Lawrence, Laurie Duggan, Dipti Saravanamuttu and others.

From 2000-2004 she became immersed in the San Francisco Bay Area's poetry scene, developing new focuses on the quotidian, and on prose poetry and hybrid prose.

Since 2004 she has lived in Rochester, New York, on Lake Ontario. ]]></about> <hometown>Port Moresby</hometown>
