Students and readers often ask me how I keep my creative fires stoked, so here’s a list I’m working on. They are primarily for writers, but would work for anyone seeking to be more creative. I’ll post more as they occur to me:

“If you are a real writer, then just surrender to the writer's life, all of it, even the bad stuff. When you do that, the beauty appears: the peace, the meaning, the joy, the fulfillment, the sense that you are doing what you were born to do and what could be better, in the end, than that?”

Katherine Marple Hi Lauren- Just dropping in since it's been nearly a year since I've spoken to you. My apologies! So much has happened to my personal life in that amount of time. I still have Radiant City on my shelf of To-Reads and I promise I will get to it this summer. I haven't picked up a book (except my own!) since last Fall. That's so out of character for me. So, promises, promises!

Lauren Thanks for the friend request, Joy. I'm so glad you like the website, as well. I look forward to getting to know you and your literary tastes better!

Joy Lauren,

Lauren That's extremely kind, Katherine. I haven't ordered yours yet as I have several books I must review first, but I WILL, I promise.

Katherine Marple Hi Lauren- I kind of went out of order from the "Main Pay it Forward" list, but I ordered a copy of Radiant City today. Can't wait to read it!

Wow. Do I talk too much? haha. Yes, my fiance is a photographer.
I've had people ask that too: "Aren't you afraid people will recognize you?"
And i replied: "But no one reads anymore! Who's going to stalk some author? What's so fascinating about that?"

But I actually have had quite a few people recognize me from a newspaper article. People remember my face for some reason. Then again... someone stopped me and was adamant that my name was Josephine. Even when I told them I was not "Josephine" whom they went to school with ten years ago, they didn't believe me.

I had to whip out my photo ID. haha.

Thanks, Katherine... yours is lovely as well. Someone once asked if I wasn't afraid I'd get a stalker due to that photo. I replied, no one's ever recognized me from that photo! It's amazing what a few hours of professional hair, make-up and lighting, as well as a great photographer can do, isn't it? But I think you know that, since your fiance is a photographer, yes?

Katherine Marple Hi Lauren. Just wanted to say that I love your Author photo. Beautiful and great lighting- dramatic

Lauren Hi Stan,

Congratulations! If you'd care to send me a copy, Stan, I'd be happy to review it.
