So good: both what's to be read and the reading process in itself. A bit creepy though - like peeping into someone's private soul. But being there by invitation? All along wondering: what would Bukowski say to this?

Someone's had to do it, isn't it so? Knausgaard is the Marcel Proust of the 21st century: deep, frank and emotional.

Even for a person that isn't into the history of Eritrea it is hugely educational to learn how a small nation can fight its way to freedom and screw up because of its own leaders.

A fascinating story of a man that was naïve enough to believe he can bring down corrupion in Kenya and succeeded if only in setting up a precedent that will win in the long run. And another good one from Michela Wrong.
More of Sorin's books…

“I learned this, at least, by my experiment: that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.”
Henry David Thoreau, Walden: Or, Life in the Woods

“The wish to disappear sends many travelers away. If you are thoroughly sick of being kept waiting at home or at work, travel is perfect: let other people wait for a change. Travel is a sort of revenge for having been put on hold, or having to leave messages on answering machines, not knowing your party's extension, being kept waiting all your working life - the homebound writer's irritants. But also being kept waiting is the human conditon.”
Paul Theroux, Dark Star Safari: Overland from Cairo to Cape Town

“Never trust a man who reads only one book.”
Arturo Pérez-Reverte, Purity of Blood

“Some people never go crazy. What truly horrible lives they must lead.”
Charles Bukowski

“For those who believe in God, most of the big questions are answered. But for those of us who can't readily accept the God formula, the big answers don't remain stone-written. We adjust to new conditions and discoveries. We are pliable. Love need not be a command nor faith a dictum. I am my own god. We are here to unlearn the teachings of the church, state, and our educational system. We are here to drink beer. We are here to kill war. We are here to laugh at the odds and live our lives so well that Death will tremble to take us.”
Charles Bukowski
