I always have at least two books and an article or two in the works. If one feels forced I take a break from it and work on something else for awhile. A change of scenery often works, also. Get out of your writing environment and go to a museum or to the movies. A break like this often refreshes the mind so that you can develop new ideas.(less)

Parson's Song (an except from Leftover Shorts) (Literature & Fiction)
1 chapters   —   updated May 25, 2011 11:28AM
Description: One of the three short stories from the collection called "Leftover Shorts." This piece is based loosely on the legend surrounding the folk tune "MacPherson's Lament." Set in the rural south, a small town speculates on whether or not a young gentleman named Billy Parson will be a great man or great criminal. According to their superstitious beliefs, he would be legendary whether for positive or negative reasons. Billy also struggles to come to terms with the local superstition surrounding his fate.

Great to meet you, Kate - and glad to find someone who knows how to put on a "Dave face" in order to get through the silly corporate world. I always say that I only go to meetings for the entertainment value: because corporate politics make people act funny.

I'm halfway through right now and my feelings are mixed on it. This is different from most of the other books I've read by Gaiman. I love the concept of immigrants bringing their gods to he New World and then forgetting them.

I'll post my review when I'm finished with the book.
