Fangs for Nothing

Now, a few of you who are already Fangs fans might be wondering, "Hey, where did that subtitle come from and why?" Well, research shows (and by research I mean me farfling around on the internet) that readers prefer to see the word "vampire" in the title for whatever... Read more of this blog post »

Fangs for Nothing (Science Fiction & Fantasy)
1 chapters   —   updated 12. Juli, 04:50 Uhr
Description: Grab some garlic and start sharpening your mother's wooden spoons because there are vampires living in the most unlikely of places. I’ve always wanted to meet a vampire. Not to stake some poor bloodsucker as he sleeps in his coffin or have some sexy vampiress bite me on the neck, but just to see a creature so rare and infamous. What can I say? Some people want to sail to Easter Island, others want to fling themselves out of an airplane, I want to shake hands with a vampire. Well, maybe I should prioritize getting a girlfriend first, but a vampire sighting is pretty high up on the list. Trust me, a lot of kids my age dream about it. Like my two best friends, Rini and Xander. We spent half the summer searching the most notorious cities in the United States for the undead, but so far, no luck. That’s why it came as a total shock to discover a living, breathing vampire in our hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. (Okay, so he’s more undead and not breathing, but you get the picture.) At first we were kind of excited, but then pretty freaked because it turns out our new fanged friend has a hold on the city's teenage population and a specific thirst for their blood. Which, in a word—bites.

Really great idea, but I have to admit I didn't finish it. This is not because the book wasn't good, but because I am up to my eyeballs in work and the library wanted it back.

This was a tough book to rate and I'm really all over the place in how I feel about it. First of all, Daniel Handler did an excellent job with character development and managed to climb into the brain of a scattered high school girl in a way that mos...more

I don't normally read thrillers, but I found myself enjoying Ty Patterson's book, The Warrior. He has created a compelling anti-hero whom it is enjoyable to follow to see what trouble he falls into and out of. I liked that the book also incorporated...more

“I noticed Xander had subtly adjusted his posture. He slouched slightly to the side, let his head hang, and then looked up through his bangs to gaze at something in the middle distance. Uber James Dean. Xander managed to pull it off as if he was looking at nothing, just having deep thoughts about the far away adventures he would be having if he wasn’t stuck waiting for a flowered suitcase at Hopkins International. I casually let my eyes slide across the room. There had to be cute girls somewhere close at hand. Otherwise Xander wouldn’t have broken out his middle distance gazing Tyrone Power eyes.”

John Woodward Thanks for the friend invite

The subject line says it all. I notice from your profile you have a graphic novel coming out. Congratulations! Will that be available in ebook format? I'm out of space for more GNs.
Over in creative writing i have two novels-in-progress there: an epic urban fantasy + paranormal romance called Terra Luna and a YA thriller called Anja Wants You To Know She Won't Be Easy To Kill. TL I hope to finish soon and publish on Kindle.
