Description:
Grab some garlic and start sharpening your mother's wooden spoons because there are vampires living in the most unlikely of places.
I’ve always wanted to meet a vampire. Not to stake some poor bloodsucker as he sleeps in his coffin or have some sexy vampiress bite me on the neck, but just to see a creature so rare and infamous. What can I say? Some people want to sail to Easter Island, others want to fling themselves out of an airplane, I want to shake hands with a vampire. Well, maybe I should prioritize getting a girlfriend first, but a vampire sighting is pretty high up on the list. Trust me, a lot of kids my age dream about it. Like my two best friends, Rini and Xander. We spent half the summer searching the most notorious cities in the United States for the undead, but so far, no luck.
That’s why it came as a total shock to discover a living, breathing vampire in our hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. (Okay, so he’s more undead and not breathing, but you get the picture.) At first we were kind of excited, but then pretty freaked because it turns out our new fanged friend has a hold on the city's teenage population and a specific thirst for their blood. Which, in a word—bites.

| As usual, Gladwell has written a super interesting book that in some small way changes the way you think about the world. One of the things I love about him as an author is that he dives right in to giving you information and doesn't spend the first...more | |

Okay, there are going to be some spoilers in my review, so if you haven't read this book, you've been warned. Wow, did I find this book to be overrated. I was expecting beautiful prose and a world that hinted that magic was just below the surface. Ins...more |

| It's like reading a video game, which is good or bad according to your needs. Some funny lines, some good world development. The plot isn't over complex, but still clips along. An enjoyable casual read. I did appreciate that the author didn't feel co...more | |

| I enjoy this book for the history. I kept Googling names and seeking more information on the historical characters mentioned. I did not find the mystery itself all that suspenseful. I could see all the twists and knew the murderer way before the end....more | |

“I noticed Xander had subtly adjusted his posture. He slouched slightly to the side, let his head hang, and then looked up through his bangs to gaze at something in the middle distance. Uber James Dean. Xander managed to pull it off as if he was looking at nothing, just having deep thoughts about the far away adventures he would be having if he wasn’t stuck waiting for a flowered suitcase at Hopkins International. I casually let my eyes slide across the room. There had to be cute girls somewhere close at hand. Otherwise Xander wouldn’t have broken out his middle distance gazing Tyrone Power eyes.”

Thanks for the friend inviteThe subject line says it all. I notice from your profile you have a graphic novel coming out. Congratulations! Will that be available in ebook format? I'm out of space for more GNs.
Over in creative writing i have two novels-in-progress there: an epic urban fantasy + paranormal romance called Terra Luna and a YA thriller called Anja Wants You To Know She Won't Be Easy To Kill. TL I hope to finish soon and publish on Kindle.
