Warner Brothers and DC Comics have now announced upcoming films for 2017 and beyond featuring super heroes.  The Justice League, and another reboot of Batman, are both slated for release, along with movies for Wonder Woman and The Flash.

This has led me to wonder:  How much longer does this super hero bubble have before it bursts?

Okay, so this is a pretty good book, but I could only enjoy it in small doses. For some reason, I have never been able to appreciate fully the technique of stream of consciousness from an omniscient narrator. Fischl employees this technique

Mixed back here for me from Sturgeon. But, in this case, it's the good kind of mixed bag. A few okay short stories, with two or three real gems in the mix.

I recently bought a whole stack of Sturgeon short story collections, and this is the first of

This is a collected volume of the six issues of Punk Rock and Trailer Parks, which tells the story of a band geek who slips into the punk rock scene of the early 80s and becomes something of a hero. It's fast moving, hilarious, and insightful. The au ...more

I found this to be a bizarre trip into midwestern 1970s high school culture. The artist does a fantastic job of telling stories in this book with illustrations. Sometimes the mini stories are told only through the illustrations on the page. The book ...more

Albert Einstein
“It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure.”
Albert Einstein

Ray Bradbury
“Why then you're as mad as me. No, madder. For I distrust 'reality' and its moron mother, the universe, while you fasten your innocence to fallible devices which pretend at happy endings.”
Ray Bradbury, Now and Forever: Somewhere a Band Is Playing Leviathan '99

Eric Frank Russell
“If one would praise the Almighty, one must then revel in His works, and take them whole, adore their very grossness, savor the oozing quiddity of that slime of which He seems to be inordinately fond. Love is not nice. God's love assuredly is not; and human love, its copy, must not presume to be so.”
Eric Frank Russell, The Great Explosion

Frank Herbert
“Every civilization depends on the quality of the individuals it produces. If you over-organize humans, over-legalize them, suppress their urge to greatness-- they cannot work and their civilization collapses”
Frank Herbert

Isaac Asimov
“History was interesting to the extent that it was catastrophic and, while that might make absorbing viewing, it made horrible living.”
Isaac Asimov
