“And hard times are good in their own way, too. Because the only way you can achieve true happiness is if you experience true sadness as well. It's all about light and shade. Balance.”
Gabrielle Williams, Beatle Meets Destiny

“You know what they say about mistakes though,' she said, all breathy and half-lipsy. 'It's the only way you ever learn anything.' And she leant forward and kissed him. Right there, in the middle of the bar. Right there, in the middle of his lips.”

“There's a joke about the balloon boy who has a balloon mum and a balloon dad and he goes to a balloon school with balloon friends ad a balloon principal. And one day, the balloon boy decides to take a pin to his balloon school, which is, of course, a disaster. And he's called into the balloon principal's office, and the balloon principal tells him, 'You've let me down, you've let your school down, you've let your parents down, you've let your friends down. But most importantly you've let yourself down'.”

Gabrielle Williams Sorry about the shameless self-promotion, but 'The Reluctant Hallelujah' just got long-listed for the 2012 Gold Inky, along with 'Night Beach' by Kirsty Eager and 'Queen of the Night' by Leanne Hall. Thanks, Inky judges! I feel like I'm in very good company.
