Ken Newman has loved stories of the supernatural since listening to his grandmother's folk tales of witches, haints, and catawamps when he was a child. Author of the paranormal thriller Forsaken, released by Black Opal Books, and his paranormal detective thriller Lost Souls, due for release in 2016, his fiction reflects his Tennessee roots and his love for all things-that-go-bump-in-the-night.
Mixing folklore with modern themes, Ken's novels create a twisted universe of supernatural creatures and larger-than-life heroes where nothing is as it seems. It is pure escapism at its best.
When not writing, he enjoys sculpting, cheesy monster movies, and building the occasional trebuchet.

Growing up, books were a magical thing. I remember reading and my imagination soared.
I was a kid from Tennessee and yet at will I could be on Mars, the jungles of Venus, or twenty-thousand leagues under the sea.
The characters I read stayed and inspired me long after the last sentence. In some ways they were just as real as the people around me.
This is why I became a writer. I want to have this... Read more of this blog post »

The Shadow Falls by K.S. Marsden
“Hunter could only groan. “What are you doing, Kristen?”

“Bringing breakfast.” She replied innocently. “Think of it as thanks for saving my life.”

Hunter sat up in bed, looking his usual ruffled morning mess, with extra dark circles under the eyes today. “Technically, I didn’t save your life, Mel did.”

“Ok, then think of it as punishment for putting my life at risk.” Kristen shrugged, and helped herself to a piece of toast. “It’s all a ruse, anyway.”
