I graduated a million years ago, in 2006, from a small college outside of Dayton, Ohio that nearly no one has heard of, Wittenberg University (now, you have).

I spend my days sitting at a computer staring at a blank page. When not struggling to write fewer words per day than Stephen King, I like to read--not as voraciously as I'd prefer--shoot my bow--I'm not yet good enough for the Olympics, but I do prepare for the zombie apocalypse--and procrastinate with video games and television. Mostly that last one, though.

Read. A lot.

Join a writing group. It doesn't have to be formal, just somewhere that you can get your writing critiqued by someone else.

Take a class. It can be another great way to meet writers.

Don't take rejection personally. Rejection comes for us all (you can't please everyone). At the end of the day, use it to better your writing, learn from it to hone your craft, and don't dwell on it.

Don't get discouraged. Chasing your dreams is hard. Keep typing one letter at a time. You'll get there. (less)
