Shannon I have been in the mood to reread a lot of books, but goodreads doesn't count them towards my reading challenge so I have been hesitant. I think they should still count dang it!

Shannon An elderly lady sat next to me at our pharmacy (at least an hour wait and today was two hours) and asked me what I was reading. I showed her my book and she showed me hers. She then admitted that she didn't like her book and I asked why she was reading it. She said that there are slim pickings when it comes to Large Print books. I had just assumed that every book was published in Large Print. That really bothered me.

Shannon I have decided to cut back on the amount of reviews that I do. After the holidays I will be focusing on a young adult book that I am writing and will be weeding out my distractions. Self discipline is so hard sometimes.

Shannon It's time for me to promote my blog. http://shayisreading.blogspot.com
I am new to all of this and am still in an awkward stage. I am learning everything by accident slowly. That's how I roll. :) (I am a geek...sorry) I am also very new to tumblr shayrp76.tumblr.com. I have a pinterest and if someone could tell me the meaning of this website I would be grateful. LOL!
Of course you can also find me on twitter shayrp76
I am not one to get intimate or personal online but I do love to talk books or movies. You can read my reviews if you like, comment, or gibgab it doesn't matter.
Also if you are an author and I owe you a review I am apologizing for my tardiness. If you have seen my past posts you may know that I have had a rough year medically. I really thought the surgery I had would be the end of it but I was not that lucky. I spend quite a lot of time with my doctors or at the E.R. A lot for me is a minute because I am a homebody. If you send me your book I will get to it faster than if I buy it since you went to the trouble.
Oh and P.S. I will not leave reviews for book that get less than 3 stars. I am a bluntly honest person so that's not a problem, but I don't like to think that someone doesn't read a book who might enjoy it because I didn't care for it. Everyone has a different experience with a book and I myself like to start reading with a clean slate.
That's all that I have to say. Happy Halloween and Best Wishes!

Eden Things are going good with me. I'm writing and making crafts. Working on a new item that I hope to list on my store's website soon.

I don't go on Xanga as much as I used to. I only go on to keep up with some people who haven't moved to wordpress and I blog on there some. Since it is the new Xanga 2.0, I'm not really into it.

The original Xanga had its problems. Some of the users were jerks, really out of control and nothing was ever done to them. But besides that, I liked the website its self and how it looked. I thought Xanga was unique, but the Xanga I once knew is no more.

I'm on Wordpress now. If you have a blog on there, let me know and I'll follow you.

How are you doing?

Shannon It's almost been a year since my surgery and I am again undergoing tests because there is obviously still a problem. ER visits still suck but kudos to my hubby who sits there while I am poked and prodded. You would think that I would have ample time to read but pain medication leaves me utterly useless. If I owe anyone a review...please be patient with me.

Shannon I would like to invite everyone to my blog shayisreading.blogspot.com I am trying to make it more social. I post reviews there (I don't review every book I read but there are quite a few) and now I would like to have discussions with other readers. I am new at the blog thing and just learning the ropes so any advice would be welcome.

I would love the links. You know I am on here (this is where I spend the most of my online time) and my other blog is shayisreading.blogspot.com or on twitter @shayrp76. I am not incredibly social online (not in life either). It's my goal every couple of months to be more active online but...:)

message 60: by Eden

Eden Well, no one has given me crap yet, but I've kept my opinion to myself lol

I'll miss blogging on Xanga and although I am on there every day, I don't have the money to pay to blog. I did eventually want to buy the Lifetime though. When they had it, it was $100 and it was a one time only fee and then you'd always have premium. But Lifetime is gone and it's actually a good thing I never had the money to get it before. Those who have Lifetime won't have it on the new site. Even they will have to pay to blog.

I feel that if Xanga wants to keep all the members they have now and even gain new ones, they won't charge people to blog. Some members will be staying, but lots of others are going elsewhere to blog. And as much as I love Xanga, I'll be going elsewhere too.

If you ever want the links to either of my blogs, let me know.

No one has said anything to me about it. Heck I didn't even know until you said something. I would hope xanga discourages the pressure if they want those who can pay to pay. I don't get on there enough to pay that kind of money even if I had it to spare. I really hope it works out and that you can continue your blog. If anyone gives you crap send them my way. ;)

message 58: by Eden

Eden I want to continue blogging on Xanga until it either shuts down or go to paid blogging. I've been on there for 8 years, but some of the bloggers are making me want to just stop early.

Some of the people who don't want to pay, but just can't pay because they don't have the money, are either being attacked or pressured into paying anyway. It seems a lot of people on Xanga who are paying the $48 or more are of the opinion that those of us can't pay are either cheap, we can actually afford it but still don't want to pay, or we think we're entitled to free things. They keep saying things like "It's only 13 cents a day!" "You're only paying $4 a month, that's the cost of a starbucks coffee."

Someone even went as far as to say that if we (the ones not paying and complaining about it) hate Xanga that much and are against what they are trying to do, we should just leave the site and not make comments about it anymore.

I think it's bad enough the Xanga Team wants its small user base to pay for the site to continue, but to have some of the members really pressuring as well, I just think it's too much.

I haven't said any of this on Xanga because I don't want to get attacked lol

message 57: by Shannon

Shannon I won't pay either so I will only have the blogspot one for now.

message 56: by Eden

Eden Shay (Shannon) wrote: "Eden wrote: "Did you read the Xanga Team's announcement?"

Yeah, it does. If it goes to pay to blog, I won't be blogging there anymore because I don't have the money to pay to blog. I'll be blogging on Wordpress and Open Diary. But at least we'll be able to stay in touch through Goodreads :)

Shannon Knock on wood---out of the hospital! I am finally able to sit down and read for extended periods of time. I still have a feeding tube which is just the most annoying freaking thing in the world. I gag on it constantly so conversations are fun. I will have to live with it until surgery in a couple of weeks. Now I will do my best to get caught up on everything.
