About this author

Hello, lovelies! I'm Katie, and although I'm from Atlanta, Georgia, I now live in the north of England, where it rains a lot but at least there are cool castles.

I also wrote this book called HELLO, I LOVE YOU, which is my YA debut and will be released in 2015 by Thomas Dunne Books/St. Martin's. It's about cute boys, sassy girls, and K-pop, and it was described by one reader as "the country, Asian, YA pop version of PRIDE AND PREJUDICE," which sounds about right to me. I'm excited to get to share it with readers!

So today, I'm going to share with you some of my favorite friendships in YA books!

1. Zuzanna and Karou, from Laini Taylor's Daughter of Smo... Read more of this blog post »

THIS BOOK! I devoured it. So so so good. I loved the worldbuilding (based on the Roman Empire), the characters, and the story. I flew through the pages, and I'm dying for the next book. Plus, the romance gave me many a feel. Definitely my favorite hi...more

More of Katie's books…
Eva Ibbotson
“It's true that adventures are good for people even when they are very young. Adventures can get in a person's blood even if he doesn't remember having them. ”
Eva Ibbotson, The Secret of Platform 13

Sophie Kinsella
“I love new clothes. If everyone could just wear new clothes everyday, I reckon depression wouldn’t exist anymore.”
Sophie Kinsella, Confessions of a Shopaholic

Laini Taylor
“I don't know many rules to live by,' he'd said. 'But here's one. It's simple. Don't put anything unnecessary into yourself. No poisons or chemicals, no fumes or smoke or alcohol, no sharp objects, no inessential needles--drug or tattoo--and...no inessential penises either.'

'Inessential penises?' Karou had repeated, delighted with the phrase in spite of her grief. 'Is there any such thing as an essential one?'

'When an essential one comes along, you'll know,' he'd replied.”
Laini Taylor, Daughter of Smoke & Bone

Langston Hughes
“Hold fast to dreams,
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird,
That cannot fly.”
Langston Hughes

Holly Black
“Girls like her, my grandfather once warned me, girls like her turn into women with eyes like bullet holes and mouths made of knives. They are always restless. They are always hungry. They are bad news. They will drink you down like a shot of whisky. Falling in love with them is like falling down a flight of stairs. What no one told me, with all those warnings, is that even after you’ve fallen, even after you know how painful it is, you’d still get in line to do it again.”
Holly Black, Black Heart

Gusto Dave Hi KM! Thanks for approving us as friends.

I’m Gusto Dave Jackson, Publicity Chair for Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers and I wouldn’t be worth my salt if I didn’t contact book lovers to tout our blog and organization. Chiseled in Rock http://chiseledinrock.blogspot.com features side-splitting satire, cartoons, and some flash fiction for intellectual readers.

This week we’re poking fun at Lincoln Child and Douglas Preston. And today’s very short piece about the lengths to which writers go to get published will crack you up!

We also plug an occasional book and interview bestselling authors. For writers, we offer tips and agent/editor interviews. RMFW has several bestselling and award winning authors as members such as Mario Acevedo, Joan Johnston, C.J. Box, and Carol Berg. You are invited to follow “The Rock” for contests, entertainment, and an insight to the world of writing!
