Joseph Massey is the author of Areas of Fog (Shearsman Books, 2009) and At the Point (Shearsman Books, 2011), as well as numerous limited-edition chapbooks.

His work has appeared in various journals and magazines, including The Nation, Asterisk, A Public Space, Tight, Carve, Northwest Review, and American Poet: The Journal of the Academy of American Poets, among many others.

A sequence of eleven poems will be published in Visiting Dr. Williams: Poems Inspired by the Life and Work of William Carlos Williams (forthcoming, University of Iowa Press, 2011).

One of my favorite poems by Barbara Guest. I’ve always been puzzled over that final word — or half-word — or what? — “rin.”

It’s that inconclusiveness that keeps the poem active, as if on a continuous loop, a record skipping.
