About this author

Jaye is a writer of experimental novels of literary and historical merit.

Born in Kobe Japan, Jaye was destined for a life of wandering both physically and mentally. She can only remain home two to three months at a time before wanderlust takes over. It has yet to be discovered how fully this need has influenced her writing.

Walter Benjamin
“A Klee painting named 'Angelus Novus' shows an angel looking as though he is about to move away from something he is fixedly contemplating. His eyes are staring, his mouth is open, his wings are spread. This is how one pictures the angel of history. His face is turned toward the past. Where we perceive a chain of events, he sees one single catastrophe which keeps piling wreckage upon wreckage and hurls it in front of his feet. The angel would like to stay, awaken the dead, and make whole what has been smashed. But a storm is blowing from Paradise; it has got caught in his wings with such violence that the angel can no longer close them. This storm irresistibly propels him into the future to which his back is turned, while the pile of debris before him grows skyward. This storm is what we call progress.”
Walter Benjamin

Marcel Proust
“Nine tenths of the ills from which intelligent people suffer spring from their intellect. They need at least a doctor who understands the disease. How can you expect Cottard to be able to treat you? He has made allowances for the difficulty of digesting sauces, for gastric trouble, but he has made no allowance for the effect of reading Shakespeare.”
Marcel Proust, Remembrance of Things Past: Volume II - The Guermantes Way & Cities of the Plain

Charles Baudelaire
“Always be a poet, even in prose.”
Charles Baudelaire

Fyodor Dostoyevsky
“People speak sometimes about the "bestial" cruelty of man, but that is terribly unjust and offensive to beasts, no animal could ever be so cruel as a man, so artfully, so artistically cruel.”
Fyodor Dostoyevsky

Mark Twain
“Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.”
Mark Twain

I'm going through an Amaretto Sour phase at the moment. But when I feel something lacking in the genius arena I drink the old rum and coke because The Beatles did. Can't hurt, right?

J.A. Pak Hi Jaye, thanks for your friend invite! Glad you liked the blog. I've just always had an interest in fashion and design. Poiret is one of my faves, along with Schiaparelli, Chanel and Dior.

Jaye Viner I just got a spam email from a lawyer saying some relative had died and left me money. Who knew this could happen on Goodreads.

Jaye Viner Hello, Glad to have met you. I already did my comparison shop of your bookshelves and enjoyed that we rather have read many of the same books and enjoyed them similarly. :-)
