About this author

As an infant, Shellie Rushing Tomlinson had one of the earliest cases of appendicitis ever documented. Subsequently, fifty-four doctors came to Natchez, MS to study her case. In retrospect, Shellie believes it may have been better had they studied her brain. Shellie is willing to admit it. She hears voices. After briefly considering medication she has instead chosen a career in storytelling to allow them all a chance to be heard. It's working out pretty well.

Shellie enjoys entertaining and encouraging a wide range of audiences. Whether sharing her humorous slant on growing up southern in civic and educational settings or offering inspiring thoughts in church retreats and ladies' seminars, Shellie's talks are always full of laughs and motiva...more

Yes, literally. In an effort, I suppose, to stay true to my life’s overall theme, my knees are weird. FYI, my knees have ALWAYS hurt. When I was a teenager running bleachers during basketball conditioning I thought it was normal– that everyone’s knees were aching. A trip to the ortho in my 30′s when I was playing tons of team tennis and my knees were killing me revealed that no, not so much. I’... Read more of this blog post »

“One, just one, but definitely one of the great benefits of private prayer is that you can’t hide from your motives. In corporate prayer, we can sound like “all that”. We can blow Jesus smoke like nobody’s bizness in a crowd but, get alone with Him, and He won’t let you get away with the fake stuff. Try blowing Jesus smoke in your prayer closet and you’ll cough on it every time. Truth? That penetrating gaze of His hurts, but afterwards, it never fails to heal.”

You are most welcome, Diana! I opened my goodreads account a while back but I haven't had much time to spend exploring it. I'm sure there are plenty of southerners, here, too. One day I hope to find time to pull 'em all together.:) Blessings~
