I've always loved Calamity Jane (who doesn't?), but I like Pillow Talk and Move Over Darling too, even though they have their silly bits. Please Don't Eat The Daisies is also a favourite, because the husband and wife relationship really works for me in that one.(less)

She'd been through a lot and had come out smiling and there was a lot to admire about her. I decided plenty of women today would find her inspirational.

Originally, I had an idea for a Doris Day look-a-like as my main character, but ended up with changing her to the president of a Doris Day film club.(less)

Now, don't faint. I know it's been more than a year since I last blogged, but today I find myself wanting to pick the whole thing up again. Not because I'm going to subject you all to my random wanderings, but because I've decided I'd like to pick apart an aspect of my writing process - my plotboard.

I first used this cork board and a few cut-up index cards while writing my second book (see lef... Read more of this blog post »

“What I’m saying is that you can’t run from it for ever, pretending you’ll always have another chance. Life doesn’t always work that way. Sometimes you’ve got to be brave and grab it while it’s there in front of you.”
Fiona Harper, Make My Wish Come True

“He’d told himself that he was brave because he liked climbing high walls and tramped through rain forests and knew how to deal with leeches and ticks, but this was where it counted. Here. In this drab city hospital. This was where he would prove he was a man or not.”
Fiona Harper, The Guy to Be Seen With
