Thomas Reid Pearson is an American novelist. Pearson was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was a student at North Carolina State University, where he gained a B.A. and M.A. in English. He went on to teach at Peace College in Raleigh, North Carolina. He started work on a Ph.D. in Pennsylvania but soon returned to North Carolina, where he worked as a carpenter and a housepainter while he began writing his first two novels, A Short History of a Small Place and Off for the Sweet Hereafter. Neither was published until 1985, when he moved to New York City, where both books were issued by Linden Press.

His novels are set in the South, in the imaginary small town of Neely, near Winston–Salem, or, in his recent novels, in the Appalachian area

Due to the brisk (ok, brisk-ish) sales of the physical editions of First In Flight and Low Lords, I've released print-on-demand paperback editions of a number of my other novels, only available at Amazon.

So you can now get virgin copies of Off For The Sweet Hereafter, The Last of How It Was, Call and Response, Gospel Hour, Cry Me a River, Polar, Blue Ridge, and True Cross in case you prefer... Read more of this blog post »

Warwolf (Literature & Fiction)
1 chapters   —   updated Jun 01, 2011 11:55AM
Description: Deputy Ray Tatum returns in a story of Blue Ridge crime and carnage, kicked off by the discovery of a body high in the limbs of a black oak tree. Wry, laconic, and more than a little world-weary, Tatum pursues a savage killer through the rural Virginia uplands with the hot-headed assistance of Special Agent Kate LeComte. Warwolf is by turns hilarious and deeply unsettling, and T.R. Pearson’s gift for capturing the true voice of the new south is on conspicuous display. The mountains of Virginia have never seemed so dangerously alive, and there remains no better company in the southern highlands than Deputy Ray Tatum.
