I live in Nashville, TN with my wife and our two young kids, Auden and Jorie. I'm an Assistant Professor of Creative Writing at Belmont University. I have a BA in English from Northern Illinois University, an MFA in Poetry from Bowling Green State University, and a Ph.D. in Contemporary Poetry and Creative Writing from Western Michigan University.

I am the author of Weeping at a Stranger's Funeral (Dream Horse Press, forthcoming) and American Amen (Dream Horse Press, 2010), winner of the 2009 Orphic Prize. I'm also the author of the chapbooks, They Speak of Fruit (Cooper Dillon Books, 2009)and The Blueprint (Pudding House, 2005) and co-editor, with F. Daniel Rzicznek, of an anthology of personal essays and accompanying prose poems titled, T...more
