About this author

I am a former geek turned watercolor artist who is now also a self-published author.

When a layoff relieved me of my technical career (which I haven't missed for a minute!), I decided to elevate my art hobby to a "retirement" career and took up my paint brushes with a vengeance. Back in Sept/Oct of this year, I ran a successful Kickstarter campaign to fund startup promotional expenses for Doggitude.

This past week, rewards were mailed to backers but I decided to personally deliver rewards packages to my many backers who live locally to me. After two days of cruising around in my Jeep stuffed to the roll bars with boxes full of books, original paintings, prints, and not... Read more of this blog post »

S. by J.J. Abrams
"I wonder what it's like to be JJ Abrams.

Does a trip to the supermarket become a frantic sortie into a grocerian wilderness? Do battles rage between produce and deli, with stalks of celery raining like arrows upon quivering chunks of roast beef and..." Read more of this review »
Carole Pivarnik and 20 other people liked John Boettcher's review of The Martian:
The Martian by Andy Weir
"One of the best hard syfy books I have ever read!

I read an advanced proof of The Martian not knowing what to expect at all. At the beginning of the book, the storytelling had the feeling of those first-person short story narratives that are only..." Read more of this review »
Carole Pivarnik and 175 other people liked Beverley's review of The Martian:
The Martian by Andy Weir
"If The Martian isn't a million dollar blockbuster in the next 5 years, Hollywood have missed a treat. I read the entire thing in one sitting, making it probably the best way to pass 8 hours that I can think of. Maybe it helps that I came to the bo..." Read more of this review »

This is a well-organized book with useful information and exercises. I love the energetic colorful layout and spiral binding. I can see myself filling many, many sketchbooks trying out the exercises and color play suggestions.
DOGGITUDE by Carole Pivarnik
"Going through the pages, you can tell Carole must have had a lot of fun putting this book together, a joy which the reader gets to partake in during reading. A wonderful selection of drawn and written art, by an artist of whom you can tell really..." Read more of this review »
