About this author

Born in Washington, DC, Laura comes from a family of writers and authors in the fields of psychiatry, policy and art. She is first to do memoir and fiction. Growing up, Laura penned stories with her sister at their grandmother’s apartment downtown. When the family visited Cape May over summer break, she brought Judy Blume to read. For three years in high school Laura volunteered as a children’s critic for The San Diego Union-Tribune. Never one to place limits on her personal exploration into healing, Laura didn’t choose to study literature and sees writing as something already inside. Her work is heartfelt and authentic.
