Okay, here's this week's To Do List. This is my last week of tutoring, so after Thursday I'll have an extra eighteen hours a week to get through publishing stuff.
* Collect April royalty info for boss.
* Finish editing Eclipse.
* Go through my editors notes for Wolfe
* Make and send out contracts other imprint.
* Get assignments to some new editors.
* Finish this damn cover that's kicking my ass.
* Send out more slush to readers, then read some slush myself.
* Contact some authors about their in house

Ladies, I'm not sure if you're aware of this or not, but there's important information I need to share with you.
The pill...kills.
Really. It apparently does.
On Saturday, June 6, pro-lifers across the country will be participating in the largest protest ever against the birth control pill and other birth control products. Last year, participants across the United States shared the facts on exactly how the pill kills babies. This year, we will expose the sordid details surrounding the tragic effe

Hello, and welcome to a new segment on my blog: how you, a hapless author, can avoid being a total douche bag to the people you will meet along your publishing journey. The hope is to make this a weekly segment.
There are many, many ways in which an author can be a douche-bag. In the future, I'll have other editors, writers, and artists come on here and share some lessons with you.
Today, I want to talk about publishing divas.
Divas are the ones who think that everything revolves around them. TH

WARNING: This is a rant of MY opinion MY blog on MY website. Any comment that isn't "I 100% agree with you"--which I'd love to hear, btw--is getting deleted because right now, this isn't a place for discussion--it's a place for me to vent.
Also, you're more then welcome to disagree with my politics and dislike me for them. I realize most writers try not to alienate readers (and potential ones) by expressing their views of "touchy" issues.
But I'm not one of those writers. I see no reason for my

So, due to a few days of dealing with some totally batshit crazy stuff in acquisitions, I decided to write a detailed post about our submissions process. (If you're a Facebook friend, you've probably read about teh crazies, because I love to share the pain.)
Submissions process. The whole thing. How we evaluate, what we base our decisions on, and everything. No secrets. AND, because I love those of you who WANT to listen to me, I included "greatest hits" links to other related posts at the bo

Hey boys and ghouls.
So, the long awaited sequel to award-winning River will be out later this summer...and as for the cover...
Here you go!

Isn't that fabulous? Ana Winson rocks.
Since I hate the actual story itself, here, I'll let Elaine tell you how great it is:
"In WOLFE, author Skyla Dawn Cameron once again weaves a spellbinding story of heartbreak and redemption that will leave the reader desperate for more."

So it's been just over a week since I decided to sit down, recharge my batteries, and get some writing done.
I've written June's CotA chapter, July's, August's, and then I decided that--since I'm technically one chapter behind my plan due to missing March's--I'd have a mid-month chapter in August.
In summary, that's four chapters and twenty thousand words, all on top of my other full time work. Go me!
And, even better, I'm really stoked about some things I've written. I'm also petrified--for the

I think I've only gotten half of what I need to get done this weekend actually done, but I don't care anymore. It really hit me that I need to take weekends for myself. Right now, I only tutor until Thursday. That gives me Friday to catch up with publishing work stuff. I'll still do some stuff on the weekend (like I got some edits done this weekend), but I can't keep using it as my catch up time because it's stressing me out. If stuff doesn't get done, it doesn't get done.
So Friday, after s

So I get an email from a, uh, literary agency, telling me to check out unpublishedink.com, and how I should go through the book proposals there. I went to the site because I thought it might be fun to blog about.
Unpublished Ink is for unpublished authors to "present" their work. Who are they presenting to? Supposedly agents and publishers. Huh.
Directly from the homepage: "Message to the Publishers and Literary Agents. Among the avalanche of manuscripts you are buried under, you might overloo

I'll make this one quick. I'm only posting 'cause I'm waiting for my drugs to kick in so that I can go to sleep...
1) Dollhouse. I just wanted to make a comment about the penultimate episode, Briar Rose. I read a lot of comments by viewers about the Paul Ballard/Boyd fight in the Dollhouse. Some people were on Paul's side, others were on Boyd's. Am I the only one who wasn't on either of their sides?
These were two men fighting over what *they* thought was best for a grown woman. It doesn't mat
