I have a post up on the Mundania blog about the passing of Louise Cooper. I was going to cross-post or expand on it here, but I pretty much said it all there. http://mundaniapress.blogspot.com/2009/10/louise-cooper-1952-2009.html

Welcome to a new edition of HNTBADBA 101.

Warning: this column will regularly feature lots of profanity. So Sensitive Speshul Snowflakes can go elsewhere.

We haven't had a column here since August! I'm so very sorry. For one thing, I was on holidays during August and then spent a few weeks in September getting caught up. And then there's always crisis after crisis so I'm like two weeks behind in a bazillion things. HNTBADBA and blogging in general always slides when that happens.

The other ...

I was "out of the office" (meaning away from home) for most of last week to do some other work. I'm now a week behind on email--which means I'm getting double the emails because people are wondering if I got their first ones--and a bunch of other things I have to do. Things are to the point now where I'm overwhelmed and on the verge of a total breakdown (happens every few months).

So I'm going to take a cue from The Office and make a list for tomorrow morning, and then do the easy things...

I needed to clear my head tonight. That's not an easy task--my brain is *always* going. So there are three things I can choose from: cooking, going for a walk/jog, or playing a video game.

I opted to cook. And I made one of my favourite, uber easy things to make: perogies.

First you have to make the dough. You need:

- 2 cups of flour

- a couple pinches of salt

- an egg

- 1/4 cup of margarine

- 1/2 cup of sour cream

Combine your dry stuff first, then toss in your beaten egg. Then add the other ...

I get a lot of friend requests on Facebook. On one hand, it's nice that people want to be my friend. On the other hand, it kinda freaks me out because I've dealt with some rather unhinged people before, and you never really know who you're dealing with.

So I went through and did a cull of FB "friends"...I limited it to people I have worked with or currently work with (my authors, editors, etc), people I went to school with, family, real life friends (wait, I have those?), people I friended...

I do a lot of baking from scratch. This is because baking calms me, but now that I'm poor, it's also because making things from scratch is a lot cheaper.

So. Bagels. I love them, you love them (presumably). They're actually not that hard to make.

Now, I'm going to assume you have a breakmaker to knead stuff for you. If not...sorry. That's about as "from scratch" as I get--popping ingredients in the breadmaker and having it knead for me.

M'kay, so you throw the ingredients in the...

I've watched the ebook vs print book debate for years.

I fully admit that I don't get it.

I've never understood why anyone would get so up in arms over the format of a bloody book.

People vehemently in favour of the print format swear up and down that they'll never read an ebook, holding a paper book is so important, and act as though ebooks have less value. Ebook people (often writers) get defensive about the wave of the future, the convenience, etc.

Really, though, who the hell cares?

I like s...
