...but I'm going to say it anyways.

No comment for the moment on Harlequin Horizons, vanity publishing, etc, because it's been said to death by people more eloquently than me, and I've made my opinions known simply by what I retweet and post on Facebook.

There is something I'd like to comment on. And this is going to be long and rambly, so prepare yourself.Read more

Um...the only thing I think you need to know is that nekros = zombies in this world, and the characters are coming back after running into some. On the way back, they found a dog--one that our narrator recognized and kinda freaked out about.

Psalms (Chapter 3/4 excerpt.)

Terry stopped the van in front of our apartment building. Front light wasn't working again and the steps were swathed in darkness. Even then, I saw the outline of a person sitting there.

Eyes fixed on...

I've seen many conversations the past month or so about epiracy. eBook readers feeling like publishers make reading ebooks legitimately hard on them and upset by resentful authors ranting about piracy, people claiming that they're turned off of buying an author's work when they hear about them being vocal about the issue.

(First, to preface this, I'm very opposed to DRM because I think it punishes legit people--I've had the same thing happen to me over games I've purchased. Just wanted to...

"I didn't concern myself much anymore with "types" since I couldn't be bothered dating. As long as the car worked and he knew how to drive it, I'd navigate him around the curves; make and model weren't an issue."

Welcome to a new edition of HNTBADBA 101.

Warning: this column will regularly feature lots of profanity. So Sensitive Speshul Snowflakes can go elsewhere.

It's Advice Column Friday! Read on for two new DB author questions!

Dear Skyla,

If I send my new Senior Editor the second installment of my series AND a gigantic bottle of vodka at the same time, will that help my SE during the acquisitions process? Meaning, if said editor drinks the vodka whilst reading the manuscript, will she look over...

The advice for people who want to be professional writers is always the same thing: butt in chair. Put your butt in the chair because that's the only way writing is going to get done--if you sit your ass down ad do it.

Once you've got your butt in the chair for awhile, though, it's easy to ignore your physical health and well-being. Also, I think it's common for us creative types to often be in our heads rather than our bodies, so we may not be that inclined to get active.Read more

Welcome to a new edition of HNTBADBA 101.

Warning: this column will regularly feature lots of profanity. So Sensitive Speshul Snowflakes can go elsewhere.

Yes, we usually have columns on Wednesdays, but I think we need some Friday fun, don't you? No? Well then, take your negativity elsewhere, please.

Today we're having our first ever advice piece for Am I a Douche Bag?

Dear Skyla,

Sometimes, when my Senior Editor thinks I'm working on the next novel, I'm actually singing "Wanna Date My Avatar...

Welcome to a new edition of HNTBADBA 101.

Warning: this column will regularly feature lots of profanity. So Sensitive Speshul Snowflakes can go elsewhere.

We're not having an official column this week as I'm busy getting yelled at by lots of people whom I don't actually work for.

Instead, I'd first like to thank everyone for the wonderful emails of support last week and all the great comments on Facebook. You are all tres awesome and not douche bags. :-) AND no one ruined Julie Butcher's...

A lot of things got overwhelming and I haven't blogged in awhile. I thought of a bazillion things to say, but never got around to it. One of the things I'd still like to write is "How to Deal with a Bipolar Friend" because I had an extremely severe depressive episode a little while ago that I had trouble getting through, and it's hard for people to be supportive of me when I'm in that headspace because I get very self-destructive.

I'd like to talk more about bipolar disorder here, you know...

I have a post up on the Mundania blog about the passing of Louise Cooper. I was going to cross-post or expand on it here, but I pretty much said it all there. http://mundaniapress.blogspot.com/2009/10/louise-cooper-1952-2009.html
