I write books. Fun books. Books for you, your best friend, your favorite barista and that girl you knew back in the tenth grade. I like to write about the things I know. Things like being confused. Being afraid. Falling in love.

When I’m not writing, I’m usually chasing after my two daughters, two dogs, two chinchillas, three cats and one lovely husband. You can find all of us in Florida, where it’s salty, sunny and humid. Bad for the hair. Good for the soul.

I love reading, eating pizza and meeting people who make everybody feel like a somebody. I am allergic to monogrammed towels, pretentious wine snobs, haters and the widely accepted practice of growing up.

On the days when I stare at my screen for ten hours and nothing comes to me, I think, "Ugh, I'm such a loser and this sucks." Mostly, the good days outweigh the bad and the truth is that the good days feel *so* good that they count much more. So overall, yes, I love it. Before I started writing full-time, I owned an art studio and people would always say to me, "You must love being your own boss." Truthfully, I was never my own boss. The studio and my customers were my bosses and they could be very demanding. I'm not complaining because it was a wonderful experience, but also exhausting and deflating at times. In a way, now that I'm focused on writing, I guess the stories and the readers are sort of like bosses, but it feels different. Like we're all in it together. Like we're connected and I don't have to try so hard to please people. Instead, I can focus on writing characters that are authentic to me and hopefully we can all go home happy. There's less compromise with my brain and ideas, and I love that part of writing. If you allow it to work like it's supposed to, it's sort of like flying. (less)

I think it does -the next book up is my favorite of the series -Dark Desires After Dusk. I actually had read the series out of order and started with Dark Desires After Dusk and love both the hero Cadeon and Holly. In fact I searched for Cadeon-type in each hero for the rest of the series. My favorite three are (in no particular order):

Dark Desires After Dusk
Pleasure of a Dark Prince
Demon from the Dark

I actually re-read book #4,5 and fell in love with the characters on the re-read. I get the slump your talking about but it gets better. :)
