Nenia Campbell was born and raised in the United States. From infancy, she was fond of books- especially the cardboard ones; they were the most delicious. As she grew older, she learned that 'devouring a book' was a phrase not to be taken literally. As a result, she became a very enthusiastic reader. When she discovered that the stories she wanted to read did not exist she became an enthusiastic writer, as well.

She hopes that you have a lovely day.

As a kid, if I hated a book, I would rewrite the ending or offending scene to my liking. (I am such a dork, I know.) Then I realized that I could write original books of my own. Mind = blown!

Toni Morison has a great quote that explains on this:

“It starts so young, and I'm angry about that. The garbage we're taught. About love, about what's "romantic." Look at so many of the so-called romantic figures in books and movies. Do we ever stop and think how many of them would cause serious and drastic unhappiness after The End? Why are sick and dangerous personality types so often shown a passionate and tragic and something to be longed for when those are the very ones you should run for your life from? Think about it. Heathcliff. Romeo. Don Juan. Jay Gatsby. Rochester. Mr. Darcy. From the rigid control freak in The Sound of Music to all the bad boys some woman goes running to the airport to catch in the last minute of every romantic comedy. She should let him leave. Your time is so valuable, and look at these guys--depressive and moody and violent and immature and self-centered. And what about the big daddy of them all, Prince Charming? What was his secret life? We dont know anything about him, other then he looks good and comes to the rescue.”

Oh dear! I only just saw this - I didn't know you could comment on profiles.

What can I say? Your reviews always struck me as particularly polite and classy, and since we seem to see eye-to-eye on a lot of books (at least, judging from what's been popping up in my feeds), it'll be cool to see your input on what's hot and what's not.

By-the-bye - I just finished reading The Shadow of the Wind. When I reviewed it, that stalker feed thingy below the book mentioned you had it marked as to-read. It's amaziiiiiiing.

That is all. :)

☠Thesie† Hey thanks for adding me, like ur profile picture

The Holy Terror Ha, thanks. I'm not always that hilarious though, unfortunately. You've been forewarned!

message 9: by Kruti

Kruti Pikachu thanks for the add :). Can't wait to discuss books with you. Also, what should I call you? If people find out I'm talking to a Pokemon...well the mental hospital is most likely going to get a new patient lol.

message 10: by Kruti

Kruti Haha, don't worry I'll keep you company :). Who knows we might even find some Pokemons lurking there. Also, book-creeping is totally in right now :D. I noticed you've read Wither and Matched - how did you find them? I've still got to read them.

message 47: by Dija

Dija Hey, Pikachu! Thanks for accepting! :) Legend's amazing and one of my favorite dystopians out there. From what I've heard, it only gets better with the next book, so that's definitely a change from the other dystopians that've been so disappointing with their sequels (*coughInsurgentcough*).

When do you plan on starting it?

message 48: by Dija (last edited Sep 22, 2012 10:54AM)

Dija I'll be stalking your profile then, to see when you finally start it. ;) I REALLY hope you love it! And then you can join the rest of us in the agonizing wait for the sequel. XD

It wasn't really bad, just really disappointing. I still have hopes for the ending though.

What's the most recent book you've rated 5 stars?

message 49: by Zoë

Zoë Thanks for accepting my friend request! :D Looking forward to interacting with you and sharing books.
