Nenia Campbell was born and raised in the United States. From infancy, she was fond of books- especially the cardboard ones; they were the most delicious. As she grew older, she learned that 'devouring a book' was a phrase not to be taken literally. As a result, she became a very enthusiastic reader. When she discovered that the stories she wanted to read did not exist she became an enthusiastic writer, as well.

She hopes that you have a lovely day.

As a kid, if I hated a book, I would rewrite the ending or offending scene to my liking. (I am such a dork, I know.) Then I realized that I could write original books of my own. Mind = blown!

Toni Morison has a great quote that explains on this:

They would be irresistible.”

“Some humans would do anything to see if it was possible to do it. If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying 'End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH', the paint wouldn't even have time to dry.”

“It starts so young, and I'm angry about that. The garbage we're taught. About love, about what's "romantic." Look at so many of the so-called romantic figures in books and movies. Do we ever stop and think how many of them would cause serious and drastic unhappiness after The End? Why are sick and dangerous personality types so often shown a passionate and tragic and something to be longed for when those are the very ones you should run for your life from? Think about it. Heathcliff. Romeo. Don Juan. Jay Gatsby. Rochester. Mr. Darcy. From the rigid control freak in The Sound of Music to all the bad boys some woman goes running to the airport to catch in the last minute of every romantic comedy. She should let him leave. Your time is so valuable, and look at these guys--depressive and moody and violent and immature and self-centered. And what about the big daddy of them all, Prince Charming? What was his secret life? We dont know anything about him, other then he looks good and comes to the rescue.”

Rabbit {Paint me like one of your 19th century gothic heroines!} I hope things get better soon, because when life throws curve-balls it gets messy. :(

Don't worry about not focusing on our buddy read, it's quite the door-stopper. I'm slowly chipping away at it.

ETA: Also congrats on finishing your new book! How exciting! :D

Rabbit {Paint me like one of your 19th century gothic heroines!} Hey, what is new? I haven't heard from you in awhile. Hope life is going well. :D

Karly *The Vampire Ninja & Luminescent Monster* I'm doing well, m'dear. I have been sucked into the vortex of writing lately ( a feeling I imagine you understand better than I ) and haven't been reading, really.

I'm glad to read you've been doing lot of writing!! How are you doing? I seem to recall you saying something about a new or different job awhile ago, is all well?

Karly *The Vampire Ninja & Luminescent Monster* I feel like I haven't handed out enough Hemmy love lately....

message 765: by Pisey

Pisey haha good question!
if you were to ask me what is my favorite book, i'm sure i wouldn't know how to answer that but i think i can make out this question!

Here is the list so far:
1. Gillian Flynn's Sharp Object
2. Anna and The French Kiss
3. Wonder
4. Dangerous Girls
5. Forgive me, Leonard Peacock.

^ none of them are the hyped book of 2015 though so i kind of proud of myself hahah

what about yours? *i don't want to see Grey in your list LOL*

message 764: by Pisey

Pisey hello Nenia! Thanks for accepting my friend request!

For some reason, I thought I was behind without checking to see where you currently were and read more. IT GETS REALLY GOOD. I don't want to give too much away, because it's more fun to read for yourself. :P

I haven't read more since my last comment, so I'll wait patiently. :D

Mona Hanna Hi Nenia. I like your new profile picture very much :)

Marla Mei Same. And I try to keep my friends list small as much as possible, too. I like my friends here to be someone whom I can genuinely have conversations with. I've gotten really picky now. I used to just accept all friend requests before and now I still haven't even talked to some of them. Smh.

Marla Mei Hellz yeaahh!! I can't believe I didn't add you sooner when we've talked a bunch of times here already. :D Here's to more conversations and book chats! :)

Jess ❈Harbinger of Blood-Soaked Rainbows❈ The Country of Jess is super busy as well. Work is really really busy right now. I'm hoping that all the craziness doesn't make my summer go too fast.

Hope everything remains awesome! You seem to be in a very good place with your writing, so that's great!♥︎♥︎

Jess ❈Harbinger of Blood-Soaked Rainbows❈ I feel like I havent talked to you in forever!!!

Hope everything is fantabulous in Nenialand!

✘✘ Sarah ✘✘ (former Nefarious Breeder of Murderous Crustaceans) The BR was originally scheduled for the beginning of this month but Karly was busy with other books so we decide to postpone it. Now we're just waiting for Karly to let us know whenever she's ready:) I'm pretty busy right now and don't have much time to be online but I'll definitely do my best to tag along for this one. It sounds too crappy to be missed^^

message 751: by Beth

Beth Hi Nenia! Yep, there are a ton of great looking young adult books coming out soon... I don't know how my checkbook is going to handle all that awesomeness... :D

The Book Queen Hi Nenia! Thanks so much! I'm always worried about how I sound on the internet. I'm sorry if I post too much but it sounds like you enjoy the updates! :)

Definitely the Northern Lights trilogy, by Philip Pullman. Absolute genius. I also loved Dusk and Dawn by Eve Edwards; normally I hate romance but those were so lovely. To be honest, aside from those, 2015 has been a little disappointing for me so far; I haven't read much that has been absolutely amazing. How about you?

✘✘ Sarah ✘✘ (former Nefarious Breeder of Murderous Crustaceans) Don't feel dumb, two other friends of mine thought I was another Sarah after I changed my name haha! I should have posted a status update to let everyone know I was still me!;o)

Heather *live on coffee and flowers* Thank yooouuuu!!!! I'm trying to get it back in shape from the bleaching, but I love it!

Interestingly, only women have complimented me on my hair so far, and men have been the ones to say something "clever" about it. -__-

message 746: by Rachel

Rachel Carter Thank you for accepting, Nenia <3 You are absolutely welcome, you already know everyone on GR loves you, I'm just happy to be on the "awesome people list." *grins* I see a lot of kitten GIF's being posted on your wall so had to add to the masses:

AHEM. I mean: Hey girl. How you doin'?

✘✘ Sarah ✘✘ (former Nefarious Breeder of Murderous Crustaceans) You know, I think it takes real guts to be an author on GR, write honest reviews and interact with your readers. I wouldn't be able to do it. It's probably great to have direct contact with your readers but it must also be hard to read negative/critical reviews for your books.

My OCD spreadsheet, my baby. Haha. I got into some kind of BR frenzy this year and this spreadsheet has been the key to my sanity;) I've heard great things about The Fold but I've heard scary things as well. Some of my friends thought it was one the most boring books ever. Then again I usually love books my friends hate so there's hope yet^^

Shattered Dreams is actually pretty hard to find but I think I might have a solution so you can suffer along with us.

✘✘ Sarah ✘✘ (former Nefarious Breeder of Murderous Crustaceans) Definitely part of the cool kids haha!

So you think 3.06 is a grim average? Mine is 3.05 and I thought it was pretty good. I mean, it used to something like 2.65 last year so I'm definitely improving!;)

If you're feeling *really* adventurous and are not afraid to read one of the crappiest books ever written, you could join Karly, Tadiana and me for our Shattered Dreams BR at the end of the month. It's supposed to be even worse than Who's Holding the Baby? haha.

I will be doing less BRs in the coming months because summer is very busy for me at work but you can have a look at my OCD spreadsheet to see what's coming up next:) Let me know if you want to tag along on any of the BRs mentioned here!

✘✘ Sarah ✘✘ (former Nefarious Breeder of Murderous Crustaceans) YAY, thanks for accepting! *does a happy dance while adding Nenia to her top friends list*

I'd love to do a BR with you but are you sure you want to take the risk? I have a stellar 1-star rating/DNF track record so far this year haha.
