About this author

Nik V. Markevicius is a half-crazy wordslinger who lives and breathes all those weird little what-ifs most people dismiss out of hand. He is the author of 8 novels and counting, plus the all-new collection Thong-Sized Stories. Not only does he hear the little voices in his head, he argues with them.

Nik’s work is available in print through Amazon.com and digitally in both Kindle and Nook formats. Free samples, rants, raves, and the stories behind his stories can be found at his website, http://theimaginaryplayground.com.

When I finished editing the second draft ofTrollbooth a month ago, Irealized I had a few different projects I needed to work on this year. Some of them have firm deadlines; others are more open-ended, but all are important to me. I want them finished, and I want to share them. I can’t do that when I’m bouncing from story to story, letting only my muse guide me along. Ideas get smothered by newe...

I gave this one more than 200 pages, since the writing was good, but the story just didn't go anywhere. Slower than Ann Rice's witch books.

This is fun sci-fi. I expected schlock and got a good story of political intrigue and mad future science instead. Don't let the jacket copy turn you off to this one; it's not as weird as the image it presents.

A slow start and a whimsical, yet self-aware narrator makes for a bit of a entry challenge, but the story's power takes over the more you read. I'll definitely read the next in the series.

More of Nik's books…
Frank Herbert
“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”
Frank Herbert, Dune

Lewis Carroll
“Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.”
Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland

Isabelle Eberhardt
“Now more than ever do I realize that I will never be content with a sedentary life, that I will always be haunted by thoughts of a sun-drenched elsewhere.”
Isabelle Eberhardt, The Nomad: The Diaries of Isabelle Eberhardt

W.H. Auden
“Poetry might be defined as the clear expression of mixed feelings.”
W.H. Auden, New Year Letter

George Bernard Shaw
“The reasonable man adapts himself to the world: the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man.”
George Bernard Shaw, Man and Superman
