About this author

After graduating college in 1995 with a strong literary background and a creative writing degree, award-winning author Donna Cook discovered fantasy in 2002 when the popularity of the Harry Potter books was too much for her to ignore. She fell in love with the whimsy and adventure of the genre and began working on Gift of the Phoenix shortly thereafter. Some traumatic events in her personal life pushed writing to the background for several years, but Gift of the Phoenix finally released in 2012. A related novella, Nashua's Choice is set to release in April 2013.

She's currently working on the sequel to Gift of the Phoenix, as well as the next installment in the Nashua Chronicles.

She is an Arizona native recently transplanted to Boise, Idaho,...more

How I adore clever, witty narrators who aren't also sarcastic, self-absorbed, and selfish. I loved the down-to-earth nature of this guy, and I completely loved how he kept comparing their adventure to the traditional fantasy quest ("You're the wizard...more

This is a touching tribute to a son who died too young, and yet lived his short 24 years to the fullest. Dave lived more in 24 years than many do in a lifetime. That's the point. It isn't how long you live (because when it comes down to it, even 60 y...more

Elyse Martin I read some of the reviews of these other people and they are so freaking smart I feel like a complete idiot who knows nothing and shouldn't ever talk about anything. :( I'll never be as smart or knowledgeable as I want to be.

Donna Cook I'm removing all books I've rated with one or two stars. It just doesn't feel right to discourage readers from trying a book they may turn out to love. We're all looking for something different as readers, and I think it's important to respect that. So I'll reserve my posts to those books I've enjoyed. Happy reading!
