After Tolkein you'll need something easy to read! 'Salem's Lot is good, I read that a couple of years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I've always wanted to read 'Salem's Lot', but I'm currently reading through the Silmarillion, so it would likely be a while before I can get to Stephen King, LOL. Tolkien was wordy.
