The first time I attempted to read this book I was going through my own crisis and I think the author's cynicism left me feeling rather depressed. Of course, had I finished the novel, I probably would have found the ending more uplifting. Reading it...more

This book was a fun, quick read. It reminded me a lot of the mystery books I read as a kid (Nancy Drew, or Boxcar Children) but with more texting, fashion, and general bitchiness.

Chuck Palahniuk
“That's why I write, because life never works except in retrospect. You can't control life, at least you can control your version.”
Chuck Palahniuk, Stranger Than Fiction

Henry David Thoreau
“My greatest skill in life has been to want but little”
Henry David Thoreau, Walden

E.M. Forster
“It isn't possible to love and part. You will wish that it was. You can transmute love, ignore it, muddle it, but you can never pull it out of you. I know by experience that the poets are right: love is eternal.”
E.M. Forster, A Room with a View

Gilda Radner
“I wanted a perfect ending. Now I've learned, the hard way, that some poems don't rhyme, and some stories don't have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what's going to happen next.
Delicious Ambiguity.”
Gilda Radner

Jeffrey Eugenides
“She held herself very straight, like Audrey Hepburn, whom all women idolize and men never think about.”
Jeffrey Eugenides, The Virgin Suicides
