Benny Cole, my bad guy, is totally misunderstood. Some folks liken him to a serial killer. He’s totally insulted, of course. Benny is nothing like Ted Bundy, Jeffrey Dahmer, or David Berkowitz. They killed for the sake of killing, for pure psychological gratification. Benny had a perfectly good reason. Maggie, his Maggie May. He did have to kill one person… had to show her that he loved her and he would do anything to prove it. He could tell she wanted it. The others were just in the way, not much more than a nuisance. If Maggie would have just loved him back none of this would have happened. But, alas……

The first time Benny crept into my brain, I was in the middle of my orientation to the operating room and we were in the sterile processing department. I can still remember looking at the steam sterilizers and thinking…"you could fit a person in there". The instrument sterilizers immediately reminded me of visiting the Dachau concentration camp when I was nine. Visions of the ovens, the ones where the Jews were cremated in order to hide Germany’s war crimes, popped into my consciousness.
Next, working nights and hearing what you think at first is the howling of the wind, and you wonder if a storm is brewing outside; but eventually it comes to you after a few surgeries; you don’t hear the howling so much when the suction apparatus is sucking away at the blood of life.

Add 20 years of listening to how grown adults still suffered because of the craziness of their parents…It’s real. The sorrow, the pain, the desire to be loved, the desire to be whole….I had no choice….Benny needed air to breathe…..he needed to live.

thought I was going to get some serious book work accomplished this past weekend.....but not hardly...even writers(especially poor ones) have to deal with everyday life..microwave-busted....clothes dryer-busted....door handle on sliding van door....busted....all in a matter of 3 days. However, did get a author page up on amazon author central. Now on to my "real job", the one that feeds me, dresses me, and pays for the busted 3some.When Innocence Dies
